Air Transat is one of the most compelling transformation stories among American carriers in recent years. Once a leisure-focused airline devoted almost exclusively to ferrying Canadians to sun-soaked destinations, the carrier has undergone a remarkable reinvention following an unsuccessful acquisition bid launched by Air Canada in 2019. The saga lasted for almost two years, with the deal finally collapsing after the European Union competition authorities indicated that it would be rejected. It is hard to say up to which degree those events contributed to what happened next, but the fact is that, in the course of the last four years,…
Air traffic controllers and technicians with perfect attendance during the government shutdown will enjoy a $10,000 bonus. It is estimated that around 20,000 ATCs will miss out on this payout, with just 776 controllers or technicians eligible, as reported by the Associated Press. This comes off the back of widespread disruption to air travel in the United States, with many employees calling in sick or refusing overtime as they were expected to work unpaid. The pressure on controllers started to mount, with financial restraints meaning they would work without a paycheck. As a result, many got side jobs to bring…
The Airbus A350XWB “extra widebody” is famous for being an extremely efficient and modern jetliner. It was created as a clean sheet design and response to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner made by Boeing, and has been a hit on the market since it debuted. The merits of the aircraft’s design are well known for their benefits to airlines, but what about flyers? A lot of the same design and engineering features that went into making the jet bigger and better in many metrics across the board, and only improve performance and operating costs, but also make it a much more…

The program will also include the reshuffling of aircraft types across the carrier’s brands: Air Canada mainline, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express. The Turkish Airlines board has decided to sell its 49% stake in Air Albania, seven years after the Albanian flag carrier was cleared to begin operations. On November 19, 2025, Turkish Airlines told investors that the company planned to sell all its shares in Air Albania, triggering the search for new investment. Other current investors in Air Albania include MDN Investment (41%), which helped set up the carrier alongside Turkish Airlines in 2018, and state-owned Albcontrol (10%). The domain in the sky has become a more complex battlefield than ever before. In response to the ever-shifting landscape of the global defense industrial contest, every major actor on the planet is pushing for more and more advanced aircraft…

The United Kingdom has issued a new warning to Russia after a Russian intelligence-gathering vessel, the Yantar, allegedly directed light lasers at Royal Air Force (RAF) pilots during surveillance operations off the coast of Scotland. The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed the incident on November 19, 2025, saying it is being taken “extremely seriously.” UK Defence Secretary John Healey said the Yantar has been operating on the edge of UK waters over the last several weeks, marking its second deployment to the area this year. The Royal Navy deployed the Type 23 frigate HMS Somerset, while the RAF sent…
Boeing Defence Australia and the RAAF conducted a series of significant trials by teaming the Ghost Bat with the service’s major platforms, and will now conduct a live fire test. The live-fire test of an air-to-air missile launched from the MQ-28A Ghost Bat CCA (Collaborative Combat Aircraft), that Boeing Defence Australia officials previously announced, is slated for next month, December 2025. The company previously disclosed in March that the test was planned between late 2026 and early 2026. Steven Parker, president of Boeing Defense Space and Security, also identified the missile as the AIM-120 AMRAAM while speaking to journalists at…
