Uzbekistan has unveiled plans to upgrade its airport infrastructure significantly. Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the ground-breaking ceremony on October 16, 2025, marking the start of construction of a new $2.5 billion airport near the country’s capital. The New Tashkent International Airport will be built by an international consortium consisting of Vision Invest of Saudi Arabia, the Sojitz Corporation, of Japan, and Incheon International Airport Corporation (operator of the largest airport in South Korea). Once operational, it will be capable of handling up to 20 million passengers and 129,000 tons of cargo per year. The new airport will…
The Boeing 757 has been a very popular aircraft since its introduction in 1982. It has been used in several niches where other aircraft couldn’t fill. However, it is an aging airframe, with many aircraft reaching beyond 30 years in service. But some companies continue operating it in 2025, despite recent retirements (the most notable being Icelandair and Condor). For airlines, charter firms, or private jet operators considering the 757/BBJ variant, understanding the true operating costs is crucial for evaluating economics,…
On October 16, 2026, Fort Lauderdale-based Spirit Airlines announced that it would be furloughing a further 365 pilots as part of its restructuring process. The latest round of cuts follows the airline’s announcement earlier in October that it would be shedding around half of its all-Airbus fleet, as well as closing operations at several of its bases, as the airline undergoes a drastic downsizing to ensure longevity. Spirit emerged from its first round of Chapter 11 bankruptcy…

We will use the Gantt plan in Figure 1 as a base for our discussions. We added two milestones to our Program Plan, which…
Becoming a Pilot requires years of rigorous training, dedication, and significant financial and personal investment. From flight school to earning certifications, type ratings, and accumulating flight hours, aspiring pilots dedicate thousands of hours to mastering complex skills and navigating a highly regulated industry. The effort is immense, and the early years can still be challenging financially, as not many pilots immediately earn high salaries; compensation varies widely by airline, aircraft, and seniority. At the same time, the landscape for regional pilot pay in the United States in 2025 is improving, with many carriers offering entry-level First Officers competitive salaries in…
Over the past couple months, Spirit Airlines has announced increasingly high employee furloughs and even demotions as it fails to achieve profitability despite the financial “lifeline” it secured in late 2024. The latest update is that 365 pilots will be furloughed in the first quarter of 2026 with 170 pilots being reduced in status, according to Reuters. The airline is also rejecting roughly 90% of the upcoming deliveries from its biggest aircraft lessor.
