The Netherlands has signed a contract to acquire three additional NH90 maritime helicopters, the Ministry of Defence announced on December 9, 2025. The agreement was concluded through the NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) and includes an option for two additional aircraft. The new helicopters will be delivered in the NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH) configuration and are expected to enter service around 2030. The NH90 program is managed by NAHEMA on behalf of participating nations and produced by NHIndustries, a consortium comprising Airbus Helicopters, Leonardo, and Fokker. With the new order, the Royal Netherlands Navy’s NH90 fleet will increase to 22…
For many, commercial air travel is not glamorous. Long lines, little legroom, and the occasional crying baby make flying more of a chore than an experience to look forward to. But this is not the case for everyone. If you have a couple of thousand dollars lying around and want to avoid the common headaches of travel, book yourself a ticket in first class. Airlines today offer travelers some seriously remarkable first class seats that quite honestly redefine what a “seat” really is. This list will present the top seven best first class airline seats in 2025, as ranked by…
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and WestJet have formed a codeshare agreement, improving connections between their networks in Scandinavia and Canada. In a statement released on December 10, 2025, SAS announced that the agreement will allow SAS customers to travel smoothly through Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and SAS gateways in the United States. Meanwhile, WestJet travelers will find it easier to reach SAS hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm. “The expanded codeshare partnership with WestJet is an important step in connecting Scandinavia even more closely with Canada,” said Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer at SAS. “It strengthens our main base in Copenhagen and gives travelers…

A small aircraft crashed into a car while making an emergency landing on the I-95 highway near Cocoa, Florida, one of the busiest roads in the area, local authorities announced. The incident involved a Beechcraft 95-C55 Baron, registered as N95KC, and occurred on December 8, 2025. Fox Orlando reported that the plane hit a 2023 Toyota Camry. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Toyota Camry was heading south on I-95, south of King Street, in the inside lane when a “fixed wing multi-engine aircraft” suddenly struck it. FlightAware data shows that the aircraft, operated by Tailwinds Flying, took off from Merritt Island, Florida, at 16:31 local time on…
Many of commercial aviation’s most iconic aircraft, such as the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A380, are widebodies, but neither of these aircraft types is being produced any more. If you love the widebodies, it can be good to know where you can still find them and what the alternatives are. As the demise of quadjets continues, instead we see them being replaced by much more fuel-efficient twinjets with lower operating costs, like the Boeing 777, the Boeing 787, and the Airbus A350. Although quadjets are no longer in production, a number still remain in operation, mostly for either cargo…
After Airbus was forced to cut its commercial delivery targets for 2025 over a fuselage panel flaw, attention has moved to Boeing’s overall performance this year. In 2024, Boeing had a remarkable year for all the wrong reasons after only 348 passenger jets were delivered to customers, including just 57 in the final quarter. A seven-week walkout by 30,000 Boeing workers and the fallout after a door plug on an Alaska Airlines 737-8 separated from the aircraft midflight were the chief causes behind the dire delivery figures. Overall, Boeing delivered 180 fewer commercial aircraft in 2024 than it did in…
The Boeing 737 is one of the most successful and iconic airliners of all time. It’s been produced in four generations since the 1960s, with each family becoming larger, more advanced, and more efficient than the last. First was the 737 Original (737-100/200), the 737 Classic (737-300/400/500), the 737NG (737-600/700/800/900/900ER), and the 737 MAX. The 737 MAX is the newest variant of the 737 family, and while it’s been controversial due to its tragic accidents, it’s also the second-most successful 737 generation. The 737NG is the most successful 737 generation, and the changes to create the 737 MAX were minimal…
A Qantas Airbus A380 was grounded in Los Angeles after wing damage was discovered performing its first flight after being returned to service. After nearly six years in storage, the incident marks an inauspicious return for the superjumbo aircraft. The aircraft, registered VH-OQC and named “Paul McGinness,” was operating flight QF11 on on December 7, 2025, from Sydney Kingsfordsmith International Airport (SYD) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), when passengers noticed visible damage to a slat on the left wing during the 13-hour journey. The slat, which is a movable component that extends the wing during takeoff and landing operations,…
Qantas recently made headlines by reactivating its 10th and final Airbus A380 after a lengthy period of coronavirus-induced storage. The Australian flag carrier was forced to park its superjumbo fleet in 2020, and has slowly been bringing its double-decker quadjets back into service. However, the good news has since been marred by the 10th aircraft being grounded after its first post-storage revenue flight. The aircraft in question re-entered service with a flight from Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), but, since arriving in Southern California three days ago, it has been unable to leave. This is…
