This year has seen United Airlines bounce back in the Middle East, with the Star Alliance founding member operating four times as many flights to and from the region in December 2025 as this time last year. This is a combined result of aircraft upgauging initiatives and routes restarting. A key factor in the increased presence of United Airlines in the Middle East in the second half of this year has been the easing of geopolitical tensions in the region, allowing it to give the green light to the resumption of operations on certain routes. Elsewhere, swapping from one variant…
The head of the US Federal Aviation Administration has been accused of violating his ethics agreement by failing to divest a multimillion-dollar stake in an airline he once led, drawing criticism from a senior lawmaker and raising fresh questions about potential conflicts at the helm of the United States’ top aviation safety regulator. Sen. Maria Cantwell, the top Democrat on the Senate Commerce Committee, wrote to FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford saying he promised during his confirmation process to sell all his shares in Republic Airways within 90 days of taking office but has failed to do so more than 150 days later. Bedford’s financial disclosures showed his holdings…
Which plane is better, more popular, more comfortable – Boeing 737 or Airbus A320? Or are you an Airbus or Boeing fan? We have covered these topics so many times in our articles, but this time, we’ll compare these two very popular aircraft from another perspective – the pilot’s one! Flying an airliner may look the same from a passenger seat, but to the pilots at the controls, there can be striking differences depending on whether they’re flying an aircraft from Boeing or Airbus. These differences go beyond liveries or cabin ambiance: they affect the feel of the controls, the…
On two recent flights, I’ve overheard passengers complaining to flight attendants that someone else took “their” overhead bin space (both were long haul premium cabin flights, for what it’s worth). I find that to be puzzling, so I’d like to discuss that in a bit more detail in this post, and talk about overhead bin etiquette. The proper airplane overhead bin etiquette Overhead bins are an important space on airplanes, especially for those who swear by only traveling with carry-ons, and who want to avoid gate checking bags. Fortunately overhead bins are getting bigger on many airplanes, but then again,…
For many years now, Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in the US federal state of Illinois has been one of United Airlines’ most important hubs for both domestic and international flying. The city is also home to the US ‘big three’ legacy carrier and Star Alliance founding member’s corporate HQ. The extent of United’s presence in Chicago is underlined by the fact that, this December, it is operating 29% more flights on its various long-haul routes to and from Europe than was the case this time last year. In this article, we will dive deeper into the data to examine…

Reliable Robotics will begin testing its Reliable Autonomy System at and around airports in United States airspace next year under a $1 million contract awarded by NASA. The Reliable Autonomy System (RAS) will begin multiple data collection flight tests per week in the first half of 2026 and conclude demonstration flights in the third quarter, […] source
There are three major global airline alliances — Star Alliance, SkyTeam, and oneworld — and each offers some level of reciprocal elite recognition. In this post, I’d like to talk about the benefits of Star Alliance Gold status. The Star Alliance is the world’s largest airline alliance, and Gold is Star Alliance’s highest reciprocal elite tier. What is Star Alliance elite status? One of the major benefits of the global alliances is reciprocal elite recognition across airlines. While you’ll generally be treated the best when flying “your” airline, there are certain perks you can expect regardless of which member airline…
The world may have lost one of the last Boeing 727 aircraft, following an incident in Colombia, where Aerosucre was operating its B727-200 freighter between Barranquilla and Bogotá. The airplane, registered as HK-5216, has been flying for over 45 years. In a report by Aviation Herald, the 727 freighter had experienced a failure on the left-hand main landing gear and was forced to return to Barranquilla around 70 minutes after takeoff, and saw the jet’s left wing make contact with the runway. Given the aircraft’s age, it remains unclear if it will be repaired. Flight A4-141 Credit: Flightradar24 Aerosucre flight A4-141…
Five people have been indicted on bribery and money-laundering charges, with accusations that multiple companies engaged in payoff schemes to secure contracts with Delta Cargo at John F.
