The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a nationwide security notice that effectively creates a moving drone no-fly zone around operations conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other components of the Department of Homeland Security.  The notice, NOTAM FDC 6/4375, prohibits unmanned aircraft systems from operating within 3,000 feet laterally and 1,000 feet vertically of DHS facilities and mobile assets, including ground vehicle convoys and their escorts. After a sharp post-pandemic slowdown that left many junior pilots struggling to land airline jobs, new data from flight training providers, pilot recruiting firms, and industry groups point to a renewed hiring cycle gaining momentum heading into 2026.   Pilot hiring surged during and immediately after the COVID-19 recovery, then fell back in 2024 and early 2025 as airlines worked through an imbalance in their cockpits. The Air Force expects to have a Boeing 747 gifted from Qatar ready to serve as an interim Air Force One presidential transport plane by this summer.In a statement to Defense News, an Air Force spokesperson said the service “remains committed to expediting delivery of the VC-25 bridge aircraft in support of the presidential airlift mission,” and the plane is on track to be delivered no later than summer 2026.
