Braking Action Advisories When tower controllers receive runway braking action reports which include the terms “medium,” “poor,” or “nil,” or whenever weather conditions are conducive to deteriorating or rapidly changing runway braking conditions, the tower will include on the ATIS broadcast the statement, “Braking Action Advisories are in Effect.” During the time braking action advisories are in effect, ATC will issue the most current braking action report for the runway in use to each arriving and departing aircraft. Pilots should be prepared for deteriorating braking conditions and should request current runway condition information if not issued by controllers. Pilots should…

Business class flight award seats are often the sweet spot when it comes to points-and-miles travel, as passengers can trade a stash of rewards for the kind of lie-flat seat that typically sells for thousands of dollars. The trick here is that the best deals often mean not that an airline is offering a particular large-scale flash deal, but more that you can make the most out of the finite number of miles that you might choose to have. The best miles to use are those that are easily transferable across different program partners, are easily earned from US-based credit…

Nut allergies are a serious concern for many people, particularly when they travel by air, given that they’re in an enclosed space for extended periods of time. While many airlines offer to take some precautions to help these passengers, I’ve never seen something like this before. I’m curious if anyone knows the backstory, or if this is just more common, and I’m not familiar with it… Philippine Airlines has designated nut allergy seatsWhile randomly reviewing Philippine Airlines’ seat maps (as one does), I noticed something that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. The carrier’s seat maps have special seats…

Although the title of the world’s most lethal fighter jet may still belong to the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor, the new kid on the block from Skunk Works, the F-35 Lightning II, has plenty to brag about itself. The F-22 is a pure air superiority fighter, made for maximum performance and complete aerial domination; on the other hand, the F-35 is a multi-role, lightweight fighter but essentially builds upon the legacy of the F-16 Fighting Falcon with new stealth technology. So the question is, a fifth-generation light fighter is made to be affordable and flexible on the battlefield, so how…
