The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has lifted its restrictions on flights at 40 major airports in the United States, putting an end to 10 days of enforced flight cuts. With the recent government shutdown — the longest ever in US history at 43 days — ending on November 12, airlines are now returning to pre-shutdown levels. Restrictions had already been halved by this weekend and have now been lifted entirely as of Monday morning. The agency cited an improvement in air traffic control (ATC) staffing levels, which have “continued to snap back into place” since the shutdown ended. However, airline…

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam — Despite U.S. interest in deeper military ties with Vietnam, the Nov. 2 visit by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, during which he met Communist Party leader To Lam and Defense Minister Phan Van Giang, did not yield an expected announcement on arms sales.“Deeper [military] cooperation will benefit both of our countries,” Hegseth said ahead of his meeting with Giang. Despite talks in recent years of Vietnam diversifying its predominantly Russian military arsenal and purchasing U.S.-made weapons, no official announcements have been made on major items. Larger efforts to turn away from Russia as its…

“Aviation is an incredible tool for Samaritan’s Purse. After a disaster strikes, we want people to know why we are bringing life-saving supplies. We want them to know that God loves them and they’re not forgotten.” Source: Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham, as Samaritan’s Purse is officially moving its historic Douglas DC-8 cargo jet into retirement on Friday, November 14, to kick off a dedication ceremony for its new Boeing 767. This marks the end of an era for the world’s last flying, US-registered DC-8.
From 2024 (YouTube Edition): New Capabilities For Business Aviation CiES Corporation President Scott Philiben walked Aero-News Editor in Chief Jim Campbell through some of what sets his products apart from the rest of the market. CiES units are “the only proven, all-digital fuel senders” around, a vast improvement from early float-type sensors equipped on centennial legacy systems. The latest and greatest from CiES includes greater compatibility with varied systems and avionics, tip and tilt compensation, damping, and accurization. Despite the apparent simplicity of fuel sensing in theory, it’s taken a lot of work to develop accurate, reliable, and electronic fuel…

The Experienced Pilot Chose To Operate In Instrument Meteorological Conditions Without An Instrument Flight Rules Clearance Analysis: The airplane was operated on a personal cross-country flight. Recorded data indicated that the airplane made an approach to an airport but did not land and the airplane apparently diverted due to the instrument meteorological weather conditions (IMC) present at that airport. The airplane then flew toward another airport about 60 nautical miles away. The airplane was aligned with the extended runway centerline but impacted trees and terrain about 2.5 miles from the diversion airport. The weather conditions at the diversion airport were…
