Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport(ATL) is the world’s busiest airport for passenger traffic. It was knocked off the number one spot briefly during the pandemic, but it gained it back again in 2021. The airport has been the busiest in the world, stretching as far back as 1998. The Boeing 777 is a hugely popular widebody twinjet, with Boeing’s data showing that it had racked up almost 2,400 orders and 1,800 deliveries as of October 2025 (including those from the new 777X series). Diving deeper into these numbers, a curious dichotomy appears, whereby the original 777-300 model sold relatively poorly, with only 60 examples produced, while its Extended Range 777-300ER counterpart sold well over 800 examples. As a result of this contrast, the non-ER Boeing 777-300 has always been a rare aircraft, with this phenomenon being accentuated today due to the type’s increasing age and the retirements that…

Despite mostly being in the shadow of newer small twin-engine aircraft for years, the Airbus A380 is enjoying an impressive comeback this winter. Schedule data from Cirium for November 2025 through February 2026, analyzed by Simple Flying route analysts, helps demonstrate how heavily a handful of trunk routes still rely on the double-decker aircraft, with Emirates and Qatar Airways using the type to concentrate huge volumes of capacity into their main hubs. Measured by the number of flights, these seven city pairs alone account for thousands of Airbus A380 movements and many billions of available seat miles over four months.…

A French senator has claimed that Airbus Germany failed to produce several technical sub-assemblies for the Future Combat Air System, and that this shortfall is what pushed Dassault Aviation to demand stronger governance over the New Generation Fighter program. The remarks, first identified by Opex360, emerged during a Senate budget hearing. According to Senator Hugues Saury, co-rapporteur for France’s defense equipment program, Airbus’s German subsidiary “was not able to carry out the technical sub-assemblies for which it had responsibility.” Saury told the Senate’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that this alleged failure contributed to strained relations between engineering teams and…

Moldova has temporarily shut down its airspace after two Russian drones crossed into the nation’s airspace overnight, ultimately forcing diversions and briefly disrupting operations at Chișinău International Airport (RMO) in the nation’s capital. Officials said that the objects in question posed a direct threat to overall flight safety, and they transited through Moldovan territory before they continued into Ukraine, where the war remains ongoing. The airspace closure lasted approximately 70 minutes, ultimately demonstrating how spillover from Russia’s ongoing campaign can rapidly escalate into an incident for neighboring nations. The latest breach here is also political. The Moldovan government argues that…
