Airline catering logistics are incredibly complex. After all, in premium cabins the goal is to serve restaurant quality meals, even though airlines are reheating food that was prepared in a catering facility many hours earlier. On top of that, the goal is to minimize waste, while still maximizing the odds of as many people as possible getting their first meal choice. Nowadays many airlines let you pre-order your meal prior to your flight. On the most basic level, this is great because it ensures you get your first choice. Beyond that, airlines also sometimes offer expanded meal choices when reserving…
Airbus, and operators of the multinational European planemaker’s A320 family of narrowbody twinjet commercial aircraft, experienced a rather more eventful end to November than would ideally have been the case. Last Friday, it became clear that around 6,000 of these single-aisle planes would require a software update, following an incident where passengers were injured after a JetBlue flight lost altitude due to a glitch. This morning, the manufacturer has been able to issue a more promising update, with Airbus confirming that fewer than 100 of the affected aircraft are still grounded amid the need for a software update. The prompt…
The director of AOG Technics, who was at the center of a fake aircraft parts scam that left airlines grounding affected planes, has pleaded guilty in court to “operating his company for a fraudulent purpose”. Jose Alejandro Zamora Yrala appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on December 1, 2025, ahead of his planed trial after the UK’s Serious Fraud Office launched an investigation in October 2023. The Serious Fraud Office said that between 2019 and 2023, Zamora Yrala “defrauded customers by falsifying documentation that related to the origin and status of CFM56 engine parts”. CFM International’s CFM56 engines are used to power Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 planes and are operated widely by airlines. AOG Technic’s customers included airlines, maintenance repair operators and engine parts suppliers. Alex Polezhaev / Creative Commons In October 2023, CFM…
MILAN — Danish aerospace manufacturer Terma Group has acquired U.K.-based counter-drone company OSL in an effort to boost its drone-defense portfolio, as European officials report an uptick in aerial intrusions aimed at critical infrastructure. While the takeover process began earlier this year, a series of airspace breaches over the last few months has accelerated the procedure, Terma CEO Henriette H. Thygesen told Defense News in an interview.“The recent European drone disruptions did not start the process, but they did underline the urgency and relevance of bringing a stronger, software-led, and open C-UAS capability to critical assets,” she said. The new partnership will…

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner succeeds the iconic 767 in Boeing’s lineup as the company’s small widebody. Although the 767 line remains open, Boeing is only selling the 767-2C and 767-300F variants, which have no equivalent versions in the 787 family. The 787 is sold in three variants (787-8, 787-9, 787-10), and to date, there are over 2,200 orders for the family. Already, Boeing has produced nearly as many 787s as 767s, and the type is set to become the future of long-haul air travel. The Boeing 787 was initially imagined as a direct successor to the 767, but the aircraft…

In 2024, plans were formalized for a major expansion to Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport, which will replace Dubai International Airport, and will become Emirates’ new home. There hasn’t been much clarity regarding the timeline with which this project will be completed, but we’re now getting more of a sense of that. Background on Dubai Al Maktoum Airport For context, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is Dubai’s current major international airport, and already consistently ranks as one of the busiest airports in the world, with the only busier airport being Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). In past years, passenger traffic at…
