To me the topic of time zones is interesting, both as it impacts where one chooses to live, and in terms of choosing where to vacation. I love traveling far away, and in a way jetlag has its charms, but there’s also something nice about not having a major disruption to your typical schedule. My favorite time zone to live in Over the years I’ve lived on both the East Coast and West Coast of the United States, though I’ve also spent a significant amount of time over the course of my travels in virtually every time zone. While I…
Air France now operates between Paris CDG and Phuket, which means the carrier’s Thai routes have doubled. Phuket is the gateway to Thai beach resorts and is enormously popular among Europeans. According to booking data, more than 2.5 million people flew between Europe and Phuket in the 12 months to September (6,800+ daily). A whopping 94% of Western European travelers flew via a hub en route. While it would be easy to say it is enormously underserved by nonstop flights, it’s because of the low yields and long distances. To attempt to help make the economics work, Air France deploys…

Airbus has nearly finished implementing precautionary updates across its A320 family fleet, with fewer than 100 aircraft still requiring the update, after a vulnerability linked to solar radiation was discovered in the flight-control systems of the aircraft. In a statement released on December 1, 2025, the European aircraft manufacturer issued an update regarding the deployment of the precautionary software and system updates for the affected A320 family flight-control computers. For many airlines, the fixes were quickly implemented since the directive required action before the next passenger flight. Airbus said that by December 1, 2025, most of the approximate 6,000 A320 family jets that were potentially impacted have now received the necessary updates and are back in service. The planemaker said it is currently collaborating with its airline partners…
In the austere desert or island outpost of the future, the U.S. Marine Corps wants its aircraft to land on a functioning airfield 90 minutes after the required equipment is flown in via an MV-22 Osprey or CH-53 King Stallion. That’s the vision behind the Expeditionary Precision Approach Landing Capability (EPALC) it’s looking to acquire. In a new request for information published Monday, Naval Air Systems Command is asking industry for details about available flight line navigation systems that would allow the Corps to land any of its aircraft, manned or unmanned, in all weather conditions.According to the solicitation, the navigation…

Turkey’s Bayraktar Kizilelma unmanned combat aircraft has completed a milestone live-fire trial over the Black Sea, successfully striking a jet-powered aerial target with a beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile for the first time, according to Turkish officials. The test took place on November 29, 2025, near Sinop, and involved the Kizilelma using its onboard active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar to track the target before launching a TÜBİTAK SAGE-developed Gökdoğan missile. The projectile scored a direct hit, marking what Turkish authorities describe as the first time a jet-propelled target has been intercepted by an unmanned combat aircraft using a BVR missile. During…
We last examined JetBlue’s fleet in late-March 2023 and, well, the fleet size hasn’t changed all that much, with a net gain of just 4 aircraft. Nonetheless, aircraft types and quantities have changed a little since then.source
