Austrian Airlines has bid farewell to the first of 17 Embraer E195s as part of its short and medium-haul fleet rollover that will see the carrier shift to only Airbus A320 family jets. The first Embraer, now registered as I-ENJA, left Vienna International Airport (VIE) on December 12, 2025, and landed at Verona Airport (VRN) to begin operations with Air Dolomiti in Italy. A total of 13 of 17 Embraer aircraft will join sister airline Air Dolomiti while the other four aircraft will be sold externally, beginning in 2026. Austrian Airlines said the delivery of the E195 was the “first…
Qantas’ fleet of Boeing 737-800 narrowbody twinjets was recently in the news after one of these aircraft took off with incorrect weight calculations. This model makes up over half of the Australian flag carrier’s fleet, with data from ch-aviation showing that it has 78 examples at its disposal at an average age of 17.4 years old (compared to a fleet-wide mean of 17.1 years). Historically speaking, Qantas has flown another three units of the type. According to current fleet data made available by aeroLOPA, these popular narrowbodies have 174 seats onboard, with this capacity split between 12 business class recliners…
The Boeing 767 is a successful mid-sized widebody airliner and was produced in three fuselage lengths and more variants. It has been superseded as a passenger jet by its replacement, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Regularly scheduled first-generation passenger variants (the Boeing 767-200, 767-200ER, and 767-300) have been retired from passenger service, but the Boeing 767-300ER and 767-400ER remain in service. Of these two variants, the Boeing 767-300ER was by far the most popular, although the -400ER may remain in passenger service for longer with US-based airlines. The -400ER is a stretched and modernized version of the 767 family, and the…
The lifestyle of professional footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has always been global in nature, as the superstar bounces between matches, sponsorships, family commitments, and a personal brand that never takes a day off. In that context, it is not surprising that he has elected to invest in a private jet. Ronaldo has categorized his private jet as his most expensive purchase ever, putting a spotlight on an aircraft that has become associated with the superstar himself. His fascination with the aircraft was not just derived from the aircraft’s price tag, but also the way that the jet itself sits at the…
Aerial refueling is the backbone of American expeditionary power. Tankers extend range, sustain combat aircraft on station, and support global mobility networks. The Boeing KC-46 Pegasus entered service promising to redefine how the United States Air Force projects fuel, logistics, and connectivity across the globe. Its arrival has triggered the gradual retirement of classic tankers like the KC-135 and KC-10, sparking debate over capability, maturity, and mission fit. This article examines how the KC-46 stacks up against legacy tankers in 2025, across fuel capacity, technology, survivability, and operational utility. Understanding how the KC-46 compares with its predecessors matters not only…
Experiencing a total eclipse for 74 minutes, passengers of Concorde 001 followed the path of totality as it crossed Africa in 1973, setting a record for the longest-ever total eclipse observation. Experiencing a total eclipse for 74 minutes, passengers of Concorde 001 moving at Mach 2 followed the path of totality as it crossed the continent of Africa in 1973, setting a record for the longest-ever total eclipse observation. Although attracting much media attention and setting records, the flight had a very limited scientific impact with the experiments performed during the eclipse – with the flight itself overshadowing the research…
The Queen of the Skies unlocked flights that were so long that airlines and manufacturers had to seriously consider how they were going to keep crew members rested and alert throughout the entire flight. Bleary-eyed cabin crew don’t only struggle to provide a high standard of service, but could also be a liability in the case of an emergency. As a result, Boeing introduced a large cabin crew rest area, and a smaller rest area for pilots. This was upgraded aboard the modern Boeing 747-8, allowing crew members to take time off in the comfort needed to sleep. This article…

A JetBlue Airbus A320 was involved in a serious close-call with a US military refueling tanker flying with its transponder switched off over Curaçao. The JetBlue flight crew had to take defensive action to avoid a midair collision with the tanker, which reportedly came within a few miles of the passenger jet at a similar altitude. The incident raises concerns about military aircraft operating in airspace frequented by commercial traffic, particularly while not being fully visible on radar. The FAA will likely launch an investigation into the incident, which could have been a lot worse under different circumstances. JetBlue A320…
