Airline share prices have come under broad pressure since joint US-Israeli action against Iran began on February 28, 2026, as investors price a one-two punch of sharply higher jet fuel costs and disrupted networks across the Middle East that force longer routings, cancellations, and tavel demand uncertainty. In recent sessions, shares of global airlines saw steep selloffs across the largest names worldwide, with some major carriers seeing single-day drops in the high single digits to low double digits. Qantas fell more than 10% at one point, while several large European airline groups also dropped around 5% or more as oil prices jumped and the travel outlook weakened. British Airways does not trade as a standalone stock, so the market…
Man Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPADS) MANPADS are lightweight, shoulder-launched, missile systems used to bring down aircraft and create mass casualties. The potential for MANPADS use against airborne aircraft is real and requires familiarity with the subject. Terrorists choose MANPADS because the weapons are low cost, highly mobile, require minimal set-up time, and are easy to use and maintain. Although the weapons have limited range, and their accuracy is affected by poor visibility and adverse weather, they can be fired from anywhere on land or from boats where there is unrestricted visibility to the target.

The US Navy’s Blue Angels will start their 2026 season later than planned after two early West Coast air shows were canceled as military installations tightened security amid the escalating conflict involving Iran. Naval Air Facility El Centro and Naval Air Station Lemoore, both in California, cited “increased security measures and evolving force protection requirements” in announcing the cancellations of their March events. El Centro’s show had been scheduled for March 14, while Lemoore’s show had been set for March 21-22. NAF El Centro posted the decision on its official air show site. Commanding Officer Capt. Ryan “Mouth” Carstens said…
Delta Air Lines announced a slate of leadership changes on March 5, 2026, promoting a new president, naming a new chief operating officer and chief financial officer, and installing a new chief marketing and product officer, with the moves tied in part to the planned retirement of longtime operations leader John Laughter at the end of April. Delta said it has promoted Peter Carter to President and elevated Dan Janki to Chief Operating Officer as part of the broader leadership reorganization the carrier said will strengthen its executive team and support long-term growth. Delta disclosed the changes in a memo CEO Ed Bastian sent to employees. Bastian said…
The Hava SOJ program envisages four aircraft, based on the Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft, with Aselsan developing the payload and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) integrating it. The first of the Turkish Air Force’s (Türk Hava Kuvvetleri – THK/TurAF) Stand-Off Jammer (SOJ) aircraft was photographed Mar. 1, 2026, in flight at the Turkish Aerospace Industries’ (TAI) facility in Ankara. Two of the aircraft, based on the Bombardier Global 6000 business jet, had also been tracked live on Feb. 20, 2026, as ‘THS42’ and ‘THS41’ during test flights. It is not clear if the image, captured by photographer ‘ahmet8630580179’ pertains to these…
March 5, 2026, © Leeham News: Before Christmas, we started a series examining the status of alternative propulsion projects. We finished on December 18 by looking at Series Hybrids, often as battery-electric aircraft with range extenders (Figure 1).The range extender is the natural next step when a project realizes that a pure battery-electric aircraft won’t be able to fly the missions the market is asking for.Figure 1.
