The first of 45 upgraded Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets has moved from Air Canada to its subsidiary low-cost leisure carrier Air Canada Rouge, as part of a major fleet shakeup. Air Canada first announced plans to switch its Boeing 737 MAX single-aisle jets to Air Canada Rouge in December 2024, signaling the start of a new era. As part of the transfer, each 737-8 is undergoing an update, with the refurbished 737 MAX aircraft featuring personal seatback entertainment, reclining seats and free Wi-Fi, sponsored by Bell. On March 5, 2026, Air Canada confirmed that the first of its updated…
Throughout Europe’s history, Vienna has played a pivotal role between east and west, a market position that has served Vienna International Airport (VIE) well. While the development of nonstop low-cost air connectivity between Eastern and Western Europe has eroded the airport’s traditional gateway role, the emergence of new markets further east has continued to fuel the airport’s growth in the years since the COVID-19 pandemic. Vienna International Airport saw a record year in 2025, handling 32.6 million passengers, while the other two airports it manages, Malta (MLA) and Kosice (KSC), Slovakia, also reported healthy growth. Undeterred by the departure of…
A St. Regis will be coming to what’s possibly one of my favorite places in the world, a market that could also use more good hotel options. The St. Regis brand will make its new Zealand debut Plans have been announced for the St. Regis Queenstown, with the newly built property expected to open in late 2027. The 145-key hotel will be located in central Queenstown, with views of The Remarkables mountain range, as well as Lake Wakatipu. The hotel will feature the signature St. Regis Bar, The Drawing Room, and an all-day dining venue, which hasn’t yet been announced.…
For the next part of my Iceland to The Residence via Cambodia trip, I had an extended layover at Techo Airport (KTI), which is the new airport serving Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I was arriving in Singapore Airlines’ 737 MAX business class from Singapore (SIN), and was connecting in Etihad’s A321LR first class to Abu Dhabi (AUH). During my time at the airport, I checked out two lounges — the Plaza Premium Lounge, and the Plaza Premium First Lounge. In this post, I’d like to review the former, which is the more basic of the two contract lounges at the airport. Ultimately…

Chase Ultimate Rewards has just launched a new transfer bonus to Wyndham Rewards, which also happens to be the program’s newest transfer partner. While some transfer bonus is better than no transfer bonus, this still isn’t an offer I’d recommend taking advantage of. Chase offering 30% bonus on Wyndham points transfers Between March 5 and March 31, 2026, you can receive a 30% bonus when you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Wyndham Rewards. Transfer Chase points to Wyndham with a 30% bonus Points ordinarily transfer at a 1,000:1,000 ratio, so with this offer, points transfer at a 1,000:1,300 ratio. You…
Investment platform Robinhood is launching a new premium credit card, which it’s marketing as “the actual Platinum Card.” I’m sure you’ll be shocked to hear that the card has a high annual fee, with the idea being that credits and benefits can offset the cost. Do the perks justify the annual fee? Let’s take a look… Basics of the $695 annual fee Robinhood Platinum Card The new $695 annual fee Robinhood Platinum Card is a Visa Infinite product made of 99.9% pure platinum plating (hence the claim that this is the “actual” Platinum Card). Beyond the physical card, is there…
Delta Air Lines is of course a very well run airline, and that largely comes down to competent leaders. It’s an interesting time when it comes to leadership at the airline, since it seems like we’re in a period where a lot could change. While there are no signs of Delta CEO Ed Bastian retiring, he’s now 68 years old, so you’d think he won’t necessarily stick around that much longer. Meanwhile Delta President Glen Hauenstein, really the strategy mastermind at the airline, has just retired. So there have been a lot of questions about what the future holds for…
Air Canada is currently making some major changes to the composition of its fleet, and it particularly impacts the company’s low cost subsidiary, Rouge. This project is now well underway, and the first aircraft has already been reconfigured, so I’d like to provide an update with all of the details. Air Canada Rouge transitioning from A320s to 737s Rouge is Air Canada’s low cost subsidiary, which primarily operates in leisure markets. Up until now, Air Canada Rouge has operated a fleet of 36 Airbus A320-family aircraft, comprised of A319s, A320s, and A321s. That fleet will be completely changing before the…

For those not familiar with the Plaza Premium First Lounge concept, the idea…
