In the face of increasing Russian aggression using one-way attack unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), the UK has begun sending Ukraine over 120,000 drones with a variety of capabilities.

On April 15, 2026, the UK government confirmed that the new package was the largest of its kind ever supplied by the UK and includes thousands of long-range strike drones, intelligence and reconnaissance drones, logistics drones and maritime capabilities, which are all battle-proven on Ukraine’s frontline.

According to the UK, around 6,500 Russian one-way attack drones were launched against Ukraine in March 2026, a vast increase on the previous month.

UK-based companies, including Tekever, Windracers and Malloy Aeronautics are all being asked to supply their drones to help Ukraine defend its lands.

The Windracers ULTRA UAV has already been heavily operated on the Ukrainian battlefield providing extensive logistic solutions and carrying out reconnaissance missions.

“Windracers is proud to be part of this historic announcement from the UK Government, led by Defence Secretary John Healey, as one of the companies selected to provide uncrewed systems to Ukraine. As an independent UK-born autonomous sovereign capability, Windracers ULTRA provides Ukraine with a resilient, dual-use heavy-lift platform offering long-range operational air support,” said Windracers CEO Simon Muderack.

The new drone package is backed by the UK’s wider £3 billion military support for Ukraine this year, as well as ERA funding.

The UK’s Defense Secretary John Healey will also confirm that the UK will be providing hundreds of thousands of artillery rounds and thousands of air defense missiles for Ukraine this year.

“In the fifth year of Putin’s brutal war, the UK is stepping up further and providing the highest ever number of drones for Ukraine this year. This big boost of battle-proven drones will give Ukrainian forces the capability they need to defend their people and fight back against Russian aggression,” said Healey.

He added: “With eyes on the Middle East in recent weeks, Putin wants us to be distracted, but Ukrainians continue to fight with huge courage and nothing will distract us from continuing to stand with them for as long as it takes to secure peace.”
