Two KLM aircraft collided on the ground at Amsterdam-Schiphol International Airport (AMS) on February 21, 2026.
The incident took place at around 8.30am local time, when one of the aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 (PH-BCL) was being pushed back from gate D54 as it was preparing to operate flight KL1953 to Athens (ATH) and collided with another aircraft that was, reportedly, stationary at the time.
The latter aircraft (with registration PH-BGC) had just landed at Schiphol after having operated flight KL 1040 from Birmingham (BHX) and was waiting to move towards its assigned gate (D29) to disembark its passengers.
Footage and images that have been posted online show visible damage on at least one of the aircraft at the base of the tail.
No one was injured because of the incident, although both aircraft had to be taken out of service. Passengers on the Athens-bound service were re-accommodated onto a replacement aircraft, which operated KL1953 some four hours later.
KLM stated that it is investigating the circumstances of this incident.
