South Korean carrier T’way has received domestic approval from authorities for its planned company rebrand and name change to Trinity Airways.

According to AJP News Agency, T’way confirmed on May 18, 2026, that South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport had issued a revised license.

T’way first announced plans to change its name to Trinity Airways in September 2025, after the carrier was purchased by Daemyung Sono Group in February 2025.

The name change was subsequently approved by shareholders at the group’s annual general meeting in March 2026.

The low-cost carrier must now wait for approval from foreign aviation authorities before the new name can be adopted officially.

“This revised license approval is an important first step toward the transition to Trinity Airways. Throughout the transition, we will put safe operations and service quality first and prepare for a new start as a global airline customers can trust,” a spokesperson for T’way said, according to local media

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport ordered the airline to ensure that consumers are aware of the changes and maintain its safety management system.

On its website, T’way states: “Operations will begin once all approval procedures from relevant domestic and international authorities are completed, which generally takes several months. The official start date will be announced separately once finalized.”

T’way will continue to use the airline code TW and familiar flight numbers following the name change and rebranding.

On official registration documents, the company’s name has already been changed to Trinity Airways, but operations and communications will only be updated once all the necessary approvals are given.
