TAP Air Portugal is joining the growing ranks of airlines that are introducing a Premium Economy product.
The Portuguese flag carrier announced on December 3, 2025, that it will be introducing a new cabin which will bridge the gap between business and economy class onboard its Airbus A330neo and A321LR aircraft.
These new cabins will be fitted with 12 seats and, while no exact details of the type of seat have yet been provided, TAP explained that they will be laid out in a four-per-row configuration, offering a neighbor-free experience with enhanced privacy and comfort.
The new product will also include a number of service elements both on the ground and onboard.
These include premium check-in, access to fast-track security lanes and priority boarding as well as a more upmarket inflight catering experience, with a main meal featuring two hot dish options and meal pre-selection up to 24 hours before departure.
Passengers traveling in this new cabin will also be given an amenity kit, premium pillows, and headphones.
The new service will provide bonus frequent flyer miles and more optionality when it comes to changing itineraries after booking.
TAP Air Portugal is yet to provide a specific timeframe for the rollout of the new premium economy product.
The Portuguese carrier currently offers two main products on its A330neo and A321LR aircraft, business and economy. However, a number of seats on each of these aircraft types are marketed as EconomyXtra, offering two additional inches of pitch compared to regular economy class seats.
