Qatar Airways is to expand its presence in Africa with flight resumptions, frequency increases, and a new route to Sudan starting in July 2026.
According to the airline, these changes are part of its efforts to rebuild a network to more than 160 destinations worldwide.
Qatar Airways is expanding its African network, with flight resumptions and frequency increases launching from 16 June 2026 onwards: Seychelles, Kigali, Marrakesh, Alexandria, Cairo, Cape Town, Dar es Salaam, Lusaka-Harare, and Maputo-Durban.

Resuming services
Starting June 16, 2026, Qatar Airways will resume four weekly flights to Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) and two weekly flights to Kigali International Airport (KGL) in Rwanda.
Daily service to Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK) in Morocco will resume on July 1, 2026.
More flights to key African cities
The airline is also increasing frequencies to several destinations across the continent.
Alexandria’s Borg El Arab Airport (HBE) will see service increase from three weekly flights to up to seven; Cairo International Airport (CAI) will go from 28 weekly flights to up to 35; while Cape Town International Airport (CPT) will increase from seven weekly flights to 10.
In addition, the service to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam will rise from three weekly flights to up to seven; the Lusaka-Harare route, connecting Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) and Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport (HRE), will increase from five weekly flights to up to seven; and the Maputo-Durban route, linking Maputo International Airport (MPM) and King Shaka International Airport (DUR), will go from four weekly flights to up to seven.
New route to Port Sudan
Qatar Airways will launch three weekly flights to Port Sudan International Airport (PZU) on July 2, 2026, adding another destination to its African network.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flight QR1319 departs Hamad International Airport (DOH) at 09:00 local time and arrives in Port Sudan at 11:00 local time.The return flight, QR1320, departs Port Sudan at 12:25 and arrives in Doha at 16:20.
The route is expected to benefit passengers traveling from the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including markets such as Oman and Pakistan, who can connect through Doha.
