Lufthansa Group expands intercontinental services to meet high demand

The Lufthansa Group has announced a significant increase in intercontinental services to cater to the sudden rise in demand for long-haul flights, particularly to destinations in Asia and Africa.

In response to the growing demand, Lufthansa Airlines has scheduled several extra flights in the coming weeks.

The airline will operate four additional flights from Munich Airport (MUC) to Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and back, as well as two special flights from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to Cape Town International Airport (CPT) and back.

These flights are already available for booking through all sales channels. Furthermore, Lufthansa Airlines is planning to add two extra flights from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Similarly, Austrian Airlines has taken action to meet the increased demand by setting up 10 special flights from Vienna International Airport (VIE) to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok and back.

The Lufthansa Group has stated that it is closely monitoring current market developments and will communicate any further additional flights as they become available. The decision to expand intercontinental services at short notice demonstrates the group’s flexibility and commitment to meeting the needs of its customers during this period of heightened travel demand.

As travel restrictions continue to ease from the COVID-19 pandemic and consumer confidence grows, the Lufthansa Group’s decision to increase its long-haul capacity is a response to the changing market conditions and the rising demand for travel to Asia and Africa, according to the group. The additional flights are intended to provide more travel options for passengers and support the ongoing recovery of the global aviation industry.
