JetBlue launches new daily service between Boston and Barcelona: photos

JetBlue has launched a new long-haul international route, linking Boston-Logan (BOS) to Barcelona-El Prat (BCN) nonstop on a daily basis.

The inaugural commercial service departed Boston at 20.04 on April 16, 2026. Seven hours and 17 minutes later, it arrived in the Catalan capital, where a welcome ceremony was held.

During this reception – attended by senior JetBlue staff, representatives of local institutions and the media – JetBlue’s President, Marty St.George, highlighted that the new service will enable a whole range of connectivity options in the United States through the airline’s Boston hub.

In this regard (and in response to questions from AeroTime), St. George revealed that nearly two thirds of the passengers on JetBlue’s Transatlantic services connect onto other flights. The airline executive also quantified the share of JetBlue’s Transatlantic traffic originating in the United States as around 60%. He predicted that these proportions would be roughly the same on the Barcelona route.

As is the case with all the other JetBlue services to Europe, the US carrier is using an Airbus A321neo LR aircraft on its new Barcelona route, which will run through to October 25, 2026.

During the event, AeroTime had the opportunity to get onboard the aircraft to have a first-hand look at JetBlue’s A321neo LR cabin.

The aircraft is fitted with 24 ‘Mint’ business class suites and 112 ‘Core’ economy Class seats. Two of the Mint suites, located on the first row (specifically, seats 1A and 1F), have extra space allowing for shared meals. Likewise, 24 of the 112 Economy Class suites are designated as ‘Even More Space’ seats which give access to additional overhead bin space and priority boarding.

Barcelona has become the second destination in Spain for JetBlue, after the launch of a service between Boston and Madrid-Barajas (MAD) in 2025. The seasonal route to the Spanish capital has also been restarted on April 16, 2026, just like those linking Boston to Dublin (DUB) and Edinburgh (EDI). This will be followed by launch of a seasonal service between Boston and Milan-Malpensa (MXP) – another first for JetBlue – and the restarting of the Boston to London-Gatwick service on May 21, 2026.

JetBlue already flies year-round between Boston and London Heathrow (LHR), Paris-CDG and Amsterdam (AMS).
