Multiple airlines have cancelled flights in and out of Taiwan in anticipation of tropical storm Fung-wong’s impending arrival.
In the early evening on November 12, 2025, local news agencies were reporting that Fung-wong had reached the shores of Taiwan after the tropical storm was downgraded from a super typhoon.
Over 8,000 people were evacuated mainly in southern Taiwan to protect people from the weather phenomena that has already left at least 27 people dead in the Philippines.
Flights operating from and to Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) in the south of the country appear to be the most severely impacted with the capital Taipei seemingly escaping the storm’s pathway.
Taiwan’s largest carriers, Eva Air and China Airlines, both pre-warned passengers of potential disruptions to their travel arrangements.

While the strength of the storm has weakened, domestic and international operators still opted for mass cancellations. Local media reported that all domestic flights had been cancelled.
UNI Air, China Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Thai Airways, Mandarin Air, Mandarin Air, Tigerair and Air Macau all listed flight cancellations for flights scheduled to depart and arrive at Kaohsiung Airport today.
International flights scheduled for operations at Taichung International Airport (RMQ) in central Taiwan appeared to be unaffected by weather disruptions.

In a social media post, Thai Airways wrote: “Important Travel Update. Due to the impact of Typhoon FUNG-WONG, Thai Airways will cancel flights between Bangkok and Kaohsiung on November 12, 2025, for the safety of our passengers and crew.”
According to TVBS, the administrative areas of Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Nantou, Hualien, Taitung, the Hengchun Peninsula, and Penghu were all placed in the warning zone.
Areas of southern Taiwan have already been hit by torrential rain causing widespread floods in the region. Local reports suggested that 51 people have been injured so far.
