Electric seaplane developer Jekta unveils subscale model for flight tests

Switzerland-based seaplane developer Jekta unveiled on December 3, 2025, a 1:9 scale model of its future PHA-ZE 100 fully electric amphibious aircraft.

This subscale model is already being used to perform flight tests in an undisclosed location in Italy. Data collected during those tests will guide the further development of the PHA-ZE 100.

Jekta admitted that, while the design, which is the work of Italian designer Max Pinucci, is representative of the final one, the final configuration of the PHA-ZE 100 may still be subject to some modifications based on the results of the test campaign.

Speaking with AeroTime during the Dubai Airshow 2025, Jekta’s founder, George Alafinov, confirmed the firm aims for the first flight of a full-scale PHA-ZE 100 prototype to take place by the end of 2027. He also gave 2030-31 as the potential date for entry into service.

In the run-up to the air show, Jekta also announced a partnership with Innovative Aerosystems (IA), a Pennsylvania-based developer of avionics technology.

Per the terms of this agreement, Innovative Aerosystems will customize its Liberty Integrated Flight Deck to meet the requirements of Jekta. These developments will include features specific to enhanced riverine and amphibious navigation and operations in locations with limited infrastructure as well as to reduce single-pilot workload.
