Edinburgh Airport (EDI) in Scotland briefly suspended all inbound and outbound flights when an IT issue was flagged by its air traffic control provider, Air Navigation Solutions.

On December 5, 2025, shortly before 09:30 local time, Edinburgh Airport posted a message on social media advising passengers of the matter.

The advisory message from Edinburgh Airport said: “Due to an IT issue with our air traffic control provider, no flights are currently operating from Edinburgh Airport. Teams are working on the issue and will resolve as soon as possible.”

The airport added: “We will provide updates when possible – please contact your airline for the latest information on your flight.”

Several airlines that were due to land at Edinburgh Airport this morning were seen diverting to alternate airports including Delta Air Lines, British Airways, Ryanair, KLM, Turkish Airlines and easyJet.

A Delta flight from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) was due to land in Edinburgh at 09:45 but was diverted to Dublin Airport (DUB), while other flights were diverted to Glasgow Airport (GLA) and Manchester Airport (MAN).

According to flightradar24, the last flight to land at Edinburgh Airport was a Loganair flight at around 08:40.

At 10:40, Edinburgh Airport announced that flights had now restarted. A United Airlines flight was one of the first to land.

Edinburgh Airport wrote: “Flights have now resumed following the IT issue with our air traffic provider. We thank passengers for their patience and understanding.”

Affected airlines will now be under pressure to reposition aircraft and enable passengers to travel to their intended destinations.
