Cirrus Next simplifies aircraft upgrades with new factory trade-in program

Cirrus Aircraft has introduced a trade-in and upgrade program called Cirrus Next, a factory-backed pathway for current Cirrus owners that is designed to simplify how they move into a new SR-series aircraft or Vision Jet.

The program blends a manufacturer-run trade-in process with Cirrus’ broker network to eliminate the usual downtime and logistical hassles of upgrading aircraft.

The Duluth, Minnesota-based manufacturer describes Cirrus Next as a structured way to remove the logistical issues of having to own two airplanes at once or go without one during the upgrade process. The program is available for late-model SR-series aircraft and all generations of the Vision Jet.

According to Cirrus, every aircraft accepted into the program will undergo a factory evaluation process, including documentation review and inspection. The goal is to offer a predictable, turnkey experience whether an owner is trading in directly or using a “transition aircraft” supplied through the program so they can continue flying without interruption.

“Cirrus Next eases the new aircraft upgrade process for SR Series and Vision Jet owners,” said Cirrus CEO Zean Nielsen. “We are dedicated to simplifying aircraft ownership, and with Cirrus Next, we aim to complement new aircraft sales purchases and our network of brokers by removing barriers, uncertainty, and downtime oftentimes associated with the transition.”

Cirrus said it will coordinate timing so owners never have a gap in access to an aircraft — a core selling point for piston and jet owners who depend on their airplanes for business or personal travel. The company emphasized that the program is intended to work alongside its authorized pre-owned broker network rather than replace it.

The Cirrus new aircraft product line spans the naturally aspirated SR20 and SR22, the turbocharged SR22T, and the Vision Jet.

The launch of Cirrus Next comes as the company continues to reinforce its position in personal aviation. The SR-series remains the best-selling piston aircraft line, while the Vision Jet is the only single-engine personal jet on the market. Cirrus’ global fleet has accumulated more than 19 million flight hours, and the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) has been deployed more than 280 times in real-world emergencies, Cirrus said.
