Boeing secures Biman Bangladesh order for 787 Dreamliners and 737 MAX jets

Boeing has secured its largest-ever order from Biman Bangladesh Airlines, with the carrier confirming the purchase of multiple 787 Dreamliners and 737 MAX jets.

On April 30, 2026, Boeing announced that Biman Bangladesh Airlines had signed for eight 787-10s, two 787-9s and four 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

The acquisition was fully expected, with the Bangladeshi flag carrier’s board having approved the deal in principle at the end of last year, leaving only pricing and additional terms with Boeing to be ironed out.

Biman Bangladesh’s order, representing its first-ever purchase of the largest Dreamliner, means that the airline will fly the entire 787 family in the future.

“The new fuel-efficient, technologically advanced aircraft will modernize Biman’s fleet, sharpen operational performance, and extend its international route network — strengthening Bangladesh’s position in the global aviation market,” said Kaizer Sohel Ahmed, Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

The order forms part of the airline’s plans to modernize its fleet, with the 787-10s set to serve high-demand flights to the Middle East while the 787-9s will support long-haul service to Europe and North America.

The four 737-8s, the airline’s first 737 MAX order, will connect Bangladesh with destinations across the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia.

“We are proud to build on our partnership with Biman with this order and support their strategy to modernize their fleet, expand their network and enhance the passenger experience,” said Paul Righi, Boeing Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, Eurasia, India and South Asia. “The 787-10 delivers unmatched efficiency and seamless commonality with Biman’s existing 787s, while the 737-8 is the ideal bridge from their 737 fleet with its versatility, fuel savings and crew commonality.”

At present, Biman operates a fleet of 14 Boeing aircraft, comprised of 787-9s, 787-8s, 777s and Next-Generation 737s.

Biman currently flies from Dhaka to 22 international destinations, including major hubs in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia and Europe. The airline’s longest route is its service to Toronto via Istanbul using a 787-9.
