Shortly After Takeoff, The Engine Completely Lost Power Analysis: The pilot reported that the engine start, run-up, and takeoff were without incident. However, shortly after takeoff, the engine completely lost power. In his efforts to avoid trees in the glide path, the airplane inadvertently entered an aerodynamic stall and spin. He was able to recover from the spin but unable to arrest the descent before impacting an open field. The airplane came to rest upright with damage to the fuselage, left wing, and empennage.

Next month will mark the end of an era in the modern European commercial aviation industry, with German leisure carrier Condor planning to operate its final flights with aircraft from the Boeing 757 family this November. It has flown the ‘flying pencil’ for 35 years, but is now looking to modernize its fleet. Following this development, there will be relatively few airlines operating aircraft from the Boeing 757 family on flights to and from Europe, with a surprisingly high number of these services coming in the form of longer intercontinental sectors. With this in mind, let’s see where these can…

Aviation data analytics platform, Cirium, earlier this week released its forecast for the coming decades and predicts over 46 thousand new aircraft to be delivered to airlines around the world by the year 2044, with the data indicating a 1% increase in deliveries in the long-term forecast. With over $3 trillion spent by global airlines in fleet renewal and expansions, the largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing, also see similar numbers in their aircraft forecasts for the next two decades. The Boeing 747, also colloquially known as the Queen of the Skies, is a widebody long-range airline that was designed and manufactured by American plane maker Boeing between 1986 and 2003. The aircraft became synonymous with long-haul luxury air travel; however, due to its sheer size and cost to operate, plus changing travel demands, the aircraft was eventually culled from the Boeing catalog, with the last aircraft rolling off the production line in December 2023. The decline in popularity for quad-jet airliners has effectively been a result of aircraft technology. Improved aerodynamics and the use of composite materials have made…

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded a contract worth approximately $172 million to acquire two Gulfstream G700 business jets amid an ongoing partial federal government shutdown, a move that has drawn criticism from lawmakers and raised questions about spending priorities. According to a statement from the House Appropriations Committee’s Democratic members issued on October 18, 2025, the contract was signed through the US Coast Guard (USCG) for the Long Range Command and Control Aircraft (LRCCA) program, which provides executive air transport and secure communications for senior DHS leadership, including Secretary Kristi Noem. The committee said the deal…

So it was recently reported by The Wall Street Journal that Boeing is in the very early stages of designing a new single-aisle airplane. If we consider the fact that the 737 will probably NOT see another generation after the MAX, we would assume that this new single-aisle aircraft would take the place of the 737 family. source

Canada’s long-delayed F-35A fighter jet program is facing renewed uncertainty as Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government weighs whether to proceed with its planned fleet of 88 aircraft from Lockheed Martin or diversify toward a mixed fleet that could include Saab’s Gripen E. The Liberal government first announced in March 2025 that it would “review” the purchase, citing heightened trade and diplomatic tensions with the United States. The move came as Canada was entering an election campaign. Following his re-election, Carney has advocated for greater “diversification” in Ottawa’s defense and industrial partnerships. That stance was underscored by a new defense and…

In the 12 years since it first took to the skies, and the 10 years since it entered commercial service with Qatar Airways, the Airbus A350 XWB family of widebody twinjets has become synonymous with ultra-long-haul travel. This is evidenced by its use on Singapore Airlines’ non-stop flights from Changi (SIN) to Newark (EWR) and New York JFK, as well as Qantas choosing the type for its ‘Project Sunrise’ scheme. However, if you know where to look, it is also possible to find Airbus A350 flights that are on the much shorter side. Indeed, scheduling data made available by Cirium,…

Boeing has received approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to increase production of its Boeing 737 MAX family, after more than a year of intense regulatory scrutiny. The FAA has lifted the cap that limited Boeing to 38 aircraft per month, allowing production to gradually rise to 42 jets per month, according to Reuters. The restriction was imposed in early 2024 following the Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 mid-air incident, which prompted the FAA to tighten oversight of Boeing’s manufacturing processes and supplier coordination. In a statement, the FAA said it had conducted extensive inspections of Boeing’s assembly system…

The cost of buying a Boeing 777 is not cheap, but the cost of operating one is comparatively astronomical. Indeed, the market price of a midlife 777 is roughly equal to operating one for up to two years. In this article, we will discuss the costs of operating a Boeing 777 in 2025, although actual expenses may differ significantly in the real world due to a range of specific factors. There is currently a hiatus in Boeing 777 passenger aircraft deliveries as the final Boeing 777-300ER was likely delivered in 2024, and the successor Boeing 777X is not expected until…
