Last week, a United Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 twinjet flying from Denver International Airport (DEN) in Colorado to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in California had to make a dramatic diversion. After a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) strike caused the aircraft’s windshield to crack, injuring one of the pilots in the process, the plane ended up diverting to Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). It has now been five days since this alarming incident occurred, during which time the impacted aircraft has flown just once more. During this time, theories have emerged regarding what kind of FOD could have…

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has been undergoing a modernization for… well, seemingly forever. As one of the biggest phases of that in terms of the impact on passenger experience, we’re now seeing one terminal close entirely, and it won’t fully reopen for more than a couple of years… LAX Terminal 5 being redeveloped, forcing airlines to move Terminal 5 at LAX will be closing completely, and it’s expected to be demolished and rebuilt, with a full reopening planned ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics (though a possible partial reopening could happen as of mid-2027). For more than three decades, the Boeing 757 has been United Airlines’ transatlantic workhorse, a narrowbody that could do what few others could: cross the ocean efficiently. From Newark to Edinburgh, Boston to Dublin, and Washington to Lisbon, the 757-200 carved out a unique niche, bridging the gap between domestic narrowbodies and widebody jets. But as fuel prices climbed, maintenance costs rose, and passengers demanded more comfort, United faced a pressing question that Boeing still hasn’t really provided an answer to: what could replace an aircraft that had no true successor from its original manufacturer? Enter the Airbus A321XLR, the…
Low-cost Vietnamese carrier Vietjet has decided not to renew a wet-lease agreement with Chengdu Airlines for two COMAC C909s, according to Reuters. On October 20, 2025, the news agency reported that sources familiar with the details said that the lease arrangement had been allowed to expire on October 18, 2025. One source told Reuters that the lease contract had not been renewed due to the costs associated with using foreign crews and maintenance services and not to do with the C909’s performance. Another factor was reported to be regulatory constraints with Vietnam’s own aviation rules. Built by the Commercial Aircraft…
