The US Air Force has paused flight operations for its entire T-38 Talon fleet after a May 12, 2026, crash involving an aircraft operating from Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi. The fleet-wide operational pause affects T-38 units across Air Education and Training Command, Air Combat Command, Air Force Materiel Command and Air Force Global Strike Command, the Air Force said. Air India has opened an investigation after an Airbus A320neo operating from Bengaluru to Delhi experienced an engine fire on May 21, 2026. The airline confirmed an incident involving flight AI2802 and said the aircraft landed safely. The US Missile Defense Agency conducted a hypersonic flight test from Mojave Air and Space Port using Stratolaunch’s Talon-A3 vehicle and a modified Boeing 747-400 carrier aircraft. Stratolaunch disclosed the March 6, 2026, mission in a May 21, 2026, announcement, saying the flight supported MDA’s Flight Test Experiment Other-04, or FEX-04. A year after the announcement of the collaboration, GA-ASI has flown an MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft with LoyalEye Airborne Early Warning (AEW) pods designed by Saab. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems and Saab announced the first flight of the MQ-9B Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) equipped with the new Airborne Early Warning (AEW) pods.
