In the aftermath of Operation El Dorado Canyon, the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird was sent across Qaddafi’s ‘Line of Death’ for a high-risk overflight of Libya to deliver critical battle damage assessment. After a joint strike mission conducted by United States Air Force (USAF) and United States Navy (USN) aircraft on key Libyan targets, it was imperative to learn the effects of the attack. Post-strike reconnaissance providing battle damage assessment (BDA) intelligence was eagerly awaited by Pentagon officials, but would require crossing Qaddafi’s ‘Line of Death’, and only one aircraft had the performance and capabilities to provide such information quickly and…

For the first long haul segment of my exotic journey to Bangkok via Paris, I flew Air France’s Boeing 787-9 business class on the 6hr25min flight from Montreal (YUL) to Paris (CDG). Broadly speaking, we’ve seen a growing number of hotels try to find loopholes in order to avoid having to deliver all elite perks. It’s an area where not all hotel groups are created equal, and Hyatt is generally better than Marriott, for example. Well, here’s a case where a Hyatt property is making a suspicious change… The Park Hyatt Tokyo is now a resort, not a hotelThe Park Hyatt Tokyo recently reopened, after an extensive renovation, and it’s easily one of the flagship properties in Hyatt’s portfolio. US special forces managed to rescue a second airman which had been stranded in Iran since April 3, 2026, when his F-15E was shot down over Iran.   The other crew member, reportedly the pilot, had already been rescued, just hours after the aircraft was downed, in another large Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) operation. At least two HH-60 helicopters were damaged, and an A-10 ground attack aircraft was lost in that action, with all involved servicemen making it back successfully to the US lines.  A race against time them ensued, with both US and Iranian forces racing to find the…

In recent years, we’ve seen luxury hospitality companies increasingly getting into the cruising industry. For example, Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection was among the first, then we recently saw the launch of Four Seasons Yachts, and then in 2027 we’re supposed to see the launch of Aman at Sea. Specifically, I’m talking about Orient Express, which is known by many for its incredible luxury train journeys (well, and hotels). Orient Express Corinthian sets sail in June 2026…
