“Working closely with the Polish Armed Forces, we’re focused on disciplined execution to help enhance Poland’s defense capabilities and keep up with the strong demand for the most advanced attack helicopter.” Source: Christina Upah, Vice President of Boeing’s Attack Helicopter Programs, discussing the Polish Armed Forces having finalized a deal with Boeing for 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters in a contract worth $4.7 billion. The order is the largest in the program’s history by a foreign nation and was accomplished under the U.S. government’s Foreign Military Sales process.
The British Airways Club loyalty program is being devalued, and I find the announcement about the changes to be oddly refreshing… British Airways Club increasing award costs as of DecemberBritish Airways Club has announced that it will be increasing award costs across the board in the coming weeks. Australia is considering sending its retiring Airbus Tiger attack helicopters to Ukraine, according to a report from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on December 3, 2025. The discussions come as Canberra unveils a new A$95 million (US$64 million) military assistance package and additional sanctions targeting Russia. ABC reported that Ukraine has asked Australia to transfer some of its Tiger fleet as the Australian Army transitions to the Boeing AH-64E Apache. Any decision, according to ABC’s sources, would be handled separately from the newly announced financial assistance. Australia operates 22 Tiger helicopters, which entered service in the mid-2000s. The type is…
By Karl Sinclair Dec. 3, 2025, © Leeham News: Boeing’s chief financial officer outlined the priorities for the use of cash going forward, and it reaffirms what has been obvious but largely unstated: debt reduction is the top priority. Speaking at the UBS Global Industrials and Transportation Conference, The Boeing Company’s (BA) new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jay Malave reiterated the corporation’s prudent position on where Free Cash Flow (FCF) was going to be spent. “I think that between the balance that we have today, the cash flow that we’re going to be generating, that will give us plenty of…
The Capital One mileage program has just revealed a devaluation to the transfer ratio for one of its partners. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, given similar moves with other points currencies. Capital One to Emirates transfer ratio worsening The Capital One mileage program has roughly 20 airline and hotel transfer partners, and transfers to most partners are at a 1:1 ratio. Unfortunately the transfer ratio for one partner will be devalued soon. As of January 13, 2026, the Capital One program will be devaluing the transfer ratio for Emirates Skywards. With this change, points will start transferring at a…
Ukraine first publicly expressed interest in acquiring the soon-to-be-retired fleet in 2024 shortly after being reportedly disappointed over not being offered the troubled MRH-90 Taipan utility helicopters that Australia decided to retire a decade earlier than originally planned. The Tiger, originally marketed by Eurocopter but now an Airbus product, was first delivered to the Australian Army in 2004 but did not reach initial operating capability (IOC) until 2011. Supply chain and availability issues have plagued the helicopter’s service life, and it too is now due to be withdrawn much earlier than planned.Australian media has reported on the possible transfer of…
Air India received a surprise parking bill of nearly 1 million rupees (about $120,000) after rediscovering a long-lost Boeing 737-200 that had been quietly sitting in a remote corner of India’s Kolkata Airport for more than a decade — a jet that somehow slipped entirely out of the memory of anyone at the airline. The aircraft, registered VT-EHH, was taken out of service and parked on a remote pad at Kolkata Airport in 2012. Over the years, staff turnover and record-keeping gaps meant the jet gradually slipped out of the airline’s institutional record-keeping. By the time airport officials contacted Air India and asked that…
Buying miles & points strategically can represent a great value, especially for luxury travel. The Qatar Airways Privilege Club program has just launched its latest promotion on purchased Avios, and it has the potential to be a great deal, even if you’re looking to acquire another “flavor” of Avios. However, there are a lot of ways to acquire Qatar Airways Avios, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend outright buying them. Between December 3 and December 6, 2025, Qatar Airways Privilege Club is offering a bonus on purchased Avios. Different members may be eligible for different offers, though it appears that the…
Southern Europe is a huge growth area from the US and Canada. This is mainly due to inbound tourism—people are increasingly seeking out new adventures—and visiting friends and relatives. Airlines have responded with creative new markets. Various places will gain transatlantic flights in 2026, including Malta, Olbia, and Santiago de Compostela. They build on other cities that welcomed them in 2025, such as Bilbao, Catania, and Valencia. Some developments are extreme. For example, Air Canada and WestJet recently announced Toronto-Ponta Delgada flights for next year, joining Azores Airlines in what is a very thin market. It epitomizes the development of…
The U.S. military will employ Shahed-like One-Way-Attack (OWA) drones in the Middle East with the establishment of a new task force. On Dec. 3, 2025, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) launched Task Force Scorpion Strike (TFSS), which will oversee the U.S. military’s first OWA drone squadron. The squadron has already been established, although the timeline is not clear. However, the photos released on the DVIDS network are dated Nov. 23, 2025, thus the squadron might have been deployed last month. Task Force Scorpion Strike In the announcement, CENTCOM says Task Force Scorpion Strike was launched only “four months after Secretary…
