Thousands of travelers found themselves sleeping on the floors of New Chitose Airport (CTS)  in Hokkaido this week after record-breaking snowfall paralyzed transport across Japan’s northern prefecture. Others sought shelter in underground walkways across the region as the relentless snow disrupted flights, trains, and road travel. Delta Air Lines has placed a firm order for 31 Airbus widebody aircraft as part of a broader fleet renewal strategy aimed at expanding its international footprint over the next decade. The order combines new commitments with the exercise of 10 existing options and adds 20 additional future widebody purchase rights.
