A Pentagon inspector general report released last week concluded that the Department of Defense did not properly track significant portions of the $13.4 billion in military aid sent to support Israel following Hamas’ deadly attack on Oct. 7, 2023.As of November 2024, the Pentagon maintained records for only 44% of the defense articles subject to enhanced monitoring, the report found, down from 69% before the war in Gaza began. Investigators said the oversight gaps were driven by staffing constraints and changes in the operational environment in Israel, and warned that such lapses increase the risk of sensitive U.S. weapons technology…
My dad and I recently flew Emirates’ Airbus A380 first class on the short 6hr55min flight from New York (JFK) to Milan (MXP), for the first segment of our Good Morning Milan, Goodnight Moon trip. As I explained in the introduction post, I won’t be fully reviewing this flight (since I reviewed this exact segment not that long ago), but instead, I’ll just be sharing some general musings. The primary motivation for taking this flight was simple — my dad absolutely adores Emirates first class, but hadn’t flown it in over a decade. I wanted to do something special for…
The Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit is famously the most expensive aircraft ever procured, or perhaps it would be better to say “notoriously” the most pricey. When the United States Air Force purchased 21 examples of the world’s first stealth, fifth-generation bomber, it would end up paying just over $2 billion per airplane. It has been well documented how the short production run and extensive research and development program led to this exorbitant unit cost. Perhaps less well publicized is the fact that its extraordinarily high sustainment cost is the driving factor behind its early retirement. The B-2 Spirit Bomber was…

Wizz Air is continuing to adjust its capacity to Western European markets following the reduction of its presence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the decision to defer the…
Coulson Aviation USA is backing the Boeing 767 as the next generation of firefighting airtanker giants as it looks to find a sustainable replacement for legacy platforms nearing the end of their operational service life. On December 22, 2025, Coulson Aviation announced it was launching the Boeing 767 Very Large Airtanker (VLAT) program to mark a “significant advancement in the evolution of aerial firefighting capability”. The company highlighted the recent grounding of the MD11 and DC10 fleets after the UPS MD-11 crash in Louisville on November 4, 2025, laid bare the structural challenge for firefighting agencies worldwide. “As older widebody…
Once passengers start to board the aircraft, the flight attendants will greet passengers, check their tickets and point them towards their seat. However, there is more going on than meets the eye. In those few seconds, the flight attendants are carefully observing each passenger for any visual clues. So, what do flight attendants notice first about passengers when boarding a flight? After boarding, there are flight attendants stationed in the cabin to guide you to your seat and help with baggage, but once again, they are not just being polite but are screening each passenger. They are looking for anything…
