At the Dubai Airshow in November 2023, EgyptAir placed a firm order for 10 Airbus A350-900s. Then in June 2025, EgyptAir increased that order to 16 jets. There’s now an exciting update (well, if you’re interested in EgyptAir), as the airline has taken delivery of its first of these modern jets. EgyptAir starts taking delivery of Airbus A350 jets EgyptAir has a firm order for 16 Airbus A350-900s, though the planes are being delivered gradually. The first A350 has just joined the fleet — it has the registration code SU-GGE, and has just flown from Toulouse (TLS) to Cairo (CAI).…

The U.S. Air Force must buy at least 500 sixth-generation fighters and bombers — more than it already plans — to be able to prevail in a war against China, the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies said Monday. In its policy paper, “Strategic Attack: Maintaining the Air Force’s Capacity to Deny Enemy Sanctuaries,” experts from the Mitchell Institute argue that the Air Force needs at least 300 next-generation F-47 fighters and at least 200 B-21 Raider stealth bombers to counter China. The Air Force has previously signaled it plans to buy at least 185 F-47s from Boeing and at least 100…
While we’ll see if anything comes of this, American Airlines has hinted at some possible new international routes it could add, and some are quite “out there.” American considering Cape Town, Casablanca, and more? During a recent event sharing the company’s vision for the upcoming years, American had a display letting people vote on the carrier’s next destination, encouraging people to grab a jelly bean from their favorite destination. The following 10 possible destinations were listed, as shared by @AndythePandy_, and flagged by View from the Wing (though it seems the post has since been deleted): Berlin, Germany (BER) Bordeaux,…
Cuba has stopped selling jet fuel to international airlines after US pressure on the island’s energy supply triggered a fuel shortage, a move that threatens to disrupt commercial air service and deepen the country’s current economic crisis. Cuban authorities said the country exhausted its aviation fuel supplies on February 9, 2026, forcing foreign carriers to arrive with enough fuel for round-trip operations, seek alternative refueling stops, or cancel service. Officials did not have a timeline for when fuel supplies would be restored. The shortage affects all of the country’s international airports. The decision comes as the Trump administration escalates pressure on Havana, including…
While nothing has been formally announced, it sounds like Lufthansa intends to introduce proper business class seats on some of its narrow body aircraft, rather than just the typical economy seats with a blocked middle (thanks to Chris and Klaus for flagging this)… Lufthansa could add recliner seats in A320 business class Handelsblatt has a story on how Lufthansa Group CEO Carsten Spohr is suggesting that the airline may soon get all of its Boeing 787 Allegris business class seats certified. That’s of course great news, though there’s not actually any firm announcement there, just that he’s expecting good news…
The YJ-15 was among the new anti-ship missiles that were revealed during the Sept. 3, 2025, parade in Beijing. China’s YJ-15 supersonic Anti-Ship Cruise Missile (ASCM), that was among four new major ship-killing missiles revealed during the Sep. 3, 2025, parade in Beijing, was possibly spotted for the first time carried by a J-15T carrier-borne jet. The image, which emerged on Feb. 7, 2025, appears to show two of the missiles under the jet’s wings. This marks another addition to China’s growing arsenal of standoff surface-strike missiles, like the YJ-21E and the CH-AS-X-13, that can be launched from its J-10C…

Longtime reader James K. (who always has thoughtful things to say, whether he agrees or disagrees with me) fairly questions me for how the hotels that I’ve stayed at over the years have evolved. He points out how I’ve increasingly drifted away from points hotels, which were aspirational for many, and toward hotels that are beyond the price range of what most people are willing or able to pay. This is a valid observation, and I’m not here to gaslight anyone, and to pretend that hasn’t happened. My hotel choices have absolutely evolved over time. So let me talk about…
