Basic Radar Service These services are provided for VFR aircraft by all commissioned terminal radar facilities. Basic radar service includes safety alerts, traffic advisories, limited radar vectoring when requested by the pilot, and sequencing at locations where procedures have been established for this purpose and/or when covered by a letter of agreement. The purpose of this service is to adjust the flow of arriving IFR and VFR aircraft into the traffic pattern in a safe and orderly manner and to provide traffic advisories to departing VFR aircraft.

The White Lotus is one of my favorite TV shows in recent times, and so far, there have been three seasons. Mike White does such a brilliant job with the plot, but my favorite thing is that the show is always filmed at luxury hotels, so it has a fun travel angle. So far there have been three seasons of The White Lotus, and we know that a fourth season is expected to film later this year. Up until now, there have been rumors that the next season will be filmed in the South of France, but we haven’t known at…
One certainly wonders what happened behind closed doors that prompted this reversal… Delta backtracks on pulling service to New York airport New York’s Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM) currently has a single commercial route, on Delta Connection, to Detroit (DTW). The short 378-mile flight operates once daily. Recently, Delta announced it would end this route as of February 14, 2026, leaving the airport without commercial service. Of course no airport or community likes to lose commercial air service, given the economic impact that has. At the same time, if the economics don’t make sense, and if there are no Essential Air…
Recently, I covered how a surprising number of hotels have a policy of not allowing stays for guests who live within a certain radius, seemingly to keep out homeless people. Well, here’s a real life example of this that’s getting a lot of attention, and interestingly, the hotel group has now been forced to apologize. Holiday Inn tells guest “I know you’re from the street” Two Brews is a charity that tries to help homeless people in the UK. The country recently saw some below freezing temperatures, leading to an amber cold weather health alert across the country, with the…
A proposed 100-octane unleaded aviation fuel developed by LyondellBasell and VP Racing Fuels has moved closer to potential fleetwide approval, as pressure continues to build on the US general aviation industry to transition away from leaded 100LL avgas. The companies said ASTM International published a new standard specification that clears a remaining hurdle for UL100E, an unleaded avgas candidate currently progressing through the FAA’s Piston Aviation Fuels Initiative (PAFI) approval path. With testing still underway, the companies said fleetwide FAA approval could follow later in 2026. UL100E is the only unleaded 100-octane fuel participating in the FAA’s fleet approval process, which aims to identify a single avgas replacement that can safely serve the…
Unfortunately this isn’t the first time that something like this has happened, and it probably won’t be the last… Screams in cargo hold lead to Air Canada Rouge gate return An alarming incident happened on December 13, 2025, involving Air Canada Rouge flight AC1502, which was scheduled to operate from Toronto (YYZ) to Moncton (YQM). The flight was operated by an Airbus A321 with the registration code C-FJQD. The 752-mile flight was scheduled to depart at 2PM and arrive at 5:03PM (with a one-hour time change), but that’s not how things played out. The flight had already been delayed by…
A woman has been arrested in Indonesia for impersonating a flight attendant, as reported by AsiaOne. The catch is that she actually purchased a ticket, and was just traveling as a passenger. Traveler impersonates Batik Air flight attendant On January 6, 2026, a 23-year-old Indonesian woman boarded Batik Air flight ID7058 from Palembang (PLM) to Jakarta (CGK), for which she had purchased a ticket. She went through security and boarded the flight like everyone else, with one quirk — she was wearing the Batik Air flight attendant uniform, head-to-toe, down to having an airline ID. During the flight, the crew…
