In May 2025, United Airlines unveiled all-new cabins for long haul aircraft, a project that the airline is branding as United Elevate. While I’ve covered the details of the new cabins, in this post I’d like to focus a bit more on the entry into service for these planes, as United has just confirmed plans to take delivery of an impressive number of ultra-premium Dreamliners in the coming months. United plans 787-9s with 64 Polaris business class seats United already has a massive fleet of 80 Boeing 787s, and the airline has an additional 140+ of these aircraft on order,…
Three US airlines were duped into giving a Canadian man hundreds of free flights after he posed as a commercial airline pilot over a four-year period, according to court records. Dallas Pokornik, 33, from Toronto was indicted on October 2, 2025, for wire fraud and appeared in court on January 20, 2026, where he pleaded not guilty. Attorney Ken Sorenson for the District of Hawaii said in a Department of Justice (DOJ) statement that the 33-year-old man was arrested in Panama, Cuba, and extradited to the US Court documents alleged that Pokornik “falsely claimed he was an airline pilot and…
While it’s common to see aircraft divert for technical reasons, it doesn’t typically happen to Air Force One. Then again, given the age of the planes that are usually operating these flights, it’s also not too surprising. Trump’s flight to Switzerland diverts over electrical issue Yesterday, President Trump was supposed to fly to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum. Any plane with the President of the United States onboard has the callsign “Air Force One.” The primary planes that typically act as Air Force One are modified Boeing 747-200s, designated as the VC-25A. On Tuesday, January 20, 2026,…
The British Army in partnership with the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) is launching a new drone degree to train the next generation of engineers who can design, build and operate the technology. On January 21, 2026, the UK’s Ministry of Defense said that a response was needed to prepare for a new era of warfare after the conflict in Ukraine highlighted the growing threat posed by uncrewed devices. The British Army has invested $336,000 (£250,000) in the Autonomous Systems degree and will deliver the three-year course to train 15 civilian students and up to five soldiers…
More than 15 years ago, Danish platoon commander Martin Tamm Andersen was leading his countrymen and U.S. Marines through the heat and sand of southern Afghanistan after a Taliban attack. As Andersen’s vehicle moved at the rear of the column, everything was normal — until in one instant the world turned sand-colored. His body shook violently. “I had no idea what was going on,” he recalled. He ran his hands over his arms and legs to make sure they were still there. When the dust settled, he saw one of his soldiers bleeding heavily from his face. Another had been hurled from…

Air France has just released a special documentary, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the carrier’s Concorde. While I (selfishly) wish it were in English, the visuals in the video are something that any aviation geek will appreciate, regardless of language. “Concorde Air France: They Made the Legend Fly” On January 21, 1976, Air France operated its first commercial flight with the Concorde, from Dakar to Rio de Janeiro. The airline is celebrating this milestone by releasing a documentary to commemorate the 50th anniversary. The documentary is called “Concorde Air France: They Made the Legend Fly,” and it’s intended…

In recent times, we’ve seen major changes made to the Emirates Skywards program, ranging from worsening the transfer ratio when moving points to the program, to adding an age limit on first class redemptions, to requiring elite status in order to redeem for first class.Emirates and Qantas have a close partnership, and with all the negative changes to Emirates Skywards, there has been somewhat of an arbitrage opportunity with using Qantas Frequent Flyer points on Emirates, especially for first class. So along those lines, there are some updates… Qantas Frequent Flyer redemptions on Emirates worsenedQantas Frequent Flyer has just revealed…
