Guys, this is an absolute mess. A couple of days ago, I covered how Lufthansa was dealing with back-to-back strikes from pilots and flight attendants. Well, I need to provide an update… we’re now seeing back-to-back-to-back strikes. It amazes me how bad Lufthansa management is at labor relations, despite the top brass at the company somehow priding themselves in being good at this. I just don’t get it. Oh, and today is officially Lufthansa’s 100th anniversary celebration, and the airline is grounded! Strikes shut down Lufthansa for five straight days Let’s not beat around the bush — Lufthansa has some…

The airline industry sure has changed a lot over the years, both for better and worse. Travel is more accessible than ever before, and on the high-end, premium travel is more comfortable than ever before. However, flying in general has just become another form of transportation, and isn’t treated in the same way it used to be. This is why it’s sometimes fun to look back at what the airline industry used to be like. Most old airline stuff seems genuinely cool, but then you also have some pretty cringeworthy stuff (like the below Delta ad), which makes you realize…

The Air France-KLM Flying Blue program has just rolled out a useful new perk for members, which seems entirely positive. I’m very happy to see this. Flying Blue adds three tiers of Choice Benefits With the Flying Blue program, you can unlock elite status based on how many XPs you rack up (“XP” stands for “experience points”), as this is the metric for earning status. The system of qualifying for status works a bit differently than with other programs: 100 XPs gets you Flying Blue Silver status You then need 180 additional XPs to earn Flying Blue Gold status You…

Nothing against furries, but this doesn’t strike me as the time or place… Pilots frustrate ATC at Washington National Airport Audio has been posted online from recent air traffic control interactions at Washington National Airport (DCA). The claim is that this involves pilots of two separate planes, both regional jets (flying on behalf of American Eagle and Delta Connection). In the roughly 20-second clip posted online: You can hear one voice say “meow meow” Then you hear another voice (presumably the air traffic controller?) say “you guys need to be professional pilots” The cat person then starts saying “meow meow…

The U.S. Senate on Wednesday blocked two resolutions that would have stopped the sale of some $450 million in bombs and bulldozers to Israel, as President Donald Trump’s fellow Republicans rallied behind his support for the Jewish state. But support for the resolutions from a large majority of the 47-member Senate Democratic caucus underscored growing frustration within that party about the effect on civilians from Israeli strikes on Gaza, Lebanon and Iran.A decades-long tradition of strong bipartisan support for Israel in the U.S. Congress means resolutions to stop weapons sales are unlikely to pass, but backers hope raising the issue will…

The Gulf nation of Oman has seemingly added a new rule that’s catching travelers from one country off guard… Oman’s new HIV test requirement for visitors from Philippines In recent days, Oman has reportedly added a new requirement whereby all nationals of the Philippines must obtain a negative HIV test before departure of their flight. This is confirmed on Emirates’ visa & passport page, when entering the nationality and destination country. Travel requirements for Filipinos going to Oman In recent weeks, there have been mixed reports of Filipinos being denied boarding for their flight to Oman without a negative HIV…

The UK government has awarded Boeing Defence UK a three-year contract worth £879 million, or about $1.19 billion, to maintain and support the British Army’s Apache attack helicopters and Royal Air Force Chinook heavy-lift helicopters. The government announced the deal on April 15, 2026, saying it will bring support for both fleets under a single agreement for the first time and marks the first contract awarded under the UK’s Rotary Wing Enterprise framework. The contract is intended to keep both helicopter fleets mission-ready while supporting about 1,200 jobs in the UK, including more than 700 within Boeing Defence UK and…
