A suspected Russian drone approached the French Navy’s aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle while it was docked in Malmö, Sweden, according to Swedish public broadcaster SVT. The Swedish Armed Forces detected the unmanned aircraft and launched countermeasures. The type of drone involved is unclear. The incident, if confirmed, would be an unusually direct attempt to probe security around a high-profile NATO-aligned port visit and a rare public example of counter-drone activity in the immediate vicinity of a carrier strike group. Drone reportedly launched from nearby Russian vessel SVT reported that the drone took off from a Russian ship in the area and moved toward Charles de…

Ursa Major has announced a new hypersonic weapon concept it calls the HAVOC Missile System, describing it as a medium-range design intended for production in larger quantities than other high-end hypersonic efforts and adaptable across air, land, and sea launch platforms. HAVOC: scalable, cross-domain missile The Colorado-based propulsion company says HAVOC is built around its Draper engine, a storable liquid rocket engine that can be throttled and restarted during flight. Ursa Major says that restart and throttle flexibility could enable different flight profiles compared to one-and-done solid motors and reduce some of the cost and design penalties associated with hypersonic…

Joby Aviation posted its 2025 full year financial results on February 25, 2026. The Californian advanced air mobility developer is continuing to pour funds into its eVTOL development program, which is advancing towards the final stages of its certification process with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). As expected in such a capital-demanding phase of its development, Joby’s net losses widened, from $608M in 2024 to $929.8M in 2025. However, unlike the preceding year, Joby registered the first somewhat meaningful revenue stream, $53 million, although this is in great part attributable to the acquisition of Blade, a helicopter operator with an already established business, primarily in New York City. This income was dwarfed by the ongoing research and development spend, which stood at $581 million. Joby’s cash position, however, appears to be…
