As much as we’d hope it’s not the case, stuff does get stolen at hotels somewhat regularly. Sometimes it’s by outsiders, sometimes it’s by other guests, and sometimes it’s an inside job. However, this has to be one of the most extreme — and suspicious — hotel theft situations that I’ve heard about. Couple sues over Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas armed robberyA Michigan couple has filed a lawsuit over an incident that happened in September 2025, during a stay at the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, as reported by The Virgin Islands Consortium (thanks to View from the Wing for flagging this). The couple…

Additional fighter and CSAR assets are being deployed to multiple bases across the Middle East as preparations for a potential attack on Iran appear to intensify. The last two days saw another influx of U.S. assets in Europe on their way to the Middle East, where they will join the buildup. Emirates is of course known for its excellent passenger experience, including a great first class and business class product. Understandably, many people are interested in upgrading their Emirates flights to a premium cabin, so on this post, I’d like to talk a bit about how that works. While I don’t think Emirates Skywards overall is the most compelling frequent flyer program, I do think the program has the most widely useful opportunity to upgrade flights with miles. XTI Aerospace Chairman and CEO Scott Pomeroy told investors the company has shifted its focus to its recent acquisition of Drone Nerds, a commercial drone distributor and service provider, and put its TriFan 600 VTOL program on what he called a “significant cost diet” while XTI conducts a strategic review of that business.  “The Drone Nerds acquisition changed our focus, our priorities, and our resource allocation,” Pomeroy said during a shareholder town hall moderated by Hangar X Studios Executive Director John Ramstead recently.  Pomeroy framed drones as a natural extension of XTI’s vertical-flight background. “We were built on VTOL expertise,” he said. “Now the foundation of all things vertical is drones.”  He also emphasized Drone Nerds’…

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued an airworthiness directive (AD) after electrical faults found on Boeing 737 Max jets reportedly caused air-conditioning malfunctions that drove cabin and flight deck temperatures to unsafe levels.  The FAA directive covers Boeing 737-8, 737-9, and 737-8-200 models, according to a Federal Register posting, after the agency received reports of in-flight events involving “excessive cabin and flight deck temperatures” that crews could not control using existing procedures. Reuters reported the FAA action applies to all 737 Max 8 and 8-200 airplanes and said the agency counted 2,119 affected airplanes worldwide, including 771 US-registered aircraft.   The FAA tied the unsafe condition to a tripped BAT BUS SECT…

In 2016, plans were announced for the Park Hyatt Los Angeles, which was supposed to open in 2019. Unfortunately that’s not exactly how things have played out. Construction on the development started in 2015, and the project topped out in 2019, but unfortunately construction has been stalled ever since, as these towers have now been abandoned for seven years. Could there finally be a positive update, though? Park Hyatt Los Angeles at Oceanwide Plaza background The Park Hyatt Downtown Los Angeles was initially supposed to open in 2019, as part of a billion dollar mixed-use development project named Oceanwide Plaza.…
