Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said its armed forces shot down two Iranian Sukhoi Su-24 tactical bombers, marking one of the clearest reported air-to-air engagements of the expanding regional war.  In a statement reported by Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ministry said the Qatar Amiri Air Force “had downed two Sukhoi Su-24 fighter jets approaching from Iran.” The ministry also said Qatari air defenses intercepted seven ballistic missiles, while the air force and Amiri Naval Forces brought down five drones after they targeted “multiple locations across the country.”   The ministry said Qatari forces intercepted all aircraft before they reached their intended targets. The statement did not specify where…

At least 15 US military aircraft have departed two American-operated bases in southern Spain after Spain said the facilities cannot be used to support attacks on Iran.   Reuters cited maps from flight-tracking website FlightRadar24 showing the aircraft leaving Naval Station Rota and Morón Air Base, which are jointly operated by the United States and Spain but remain under Spanish sovereignty. Delta Air Lines has exercised options for 34 additional Airbus A321neo aircraft as it continues a fleet renewal push that the carrier says will lower operating costs and expand premium capacity on domestic and short-haul international routes.  Delta said deliveries from the latest purchase will begin in 2029. The airline said the option exercise will grow its total A321neo fleet to 189 aircraft, making it the largest fleet type in Delta’s history.   “The A321neo has proven to be an exceptional aircraft for Delta, delivering industry-leading efficiency while offering the premium experience our customers value,” Kristen Bojko, Delta’s Vice President of Fleet, said in a statement. Astronaut Mike Fincke Doing ‘Very Well’ After Early Return NASA has provided a long-awaited update on a January medical issue aboard the International Space Station that led to the early return of Crew-11. The affected astronaut, now known to have been ISS Commander Mike Fincke, is said to be on the up and up after a few weeks of R&R.

For the next hotel stay of my Iceland to The Residence via Cambodia trip, I spent a couple of nights at the 252-key Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, a hotel that has been on my radar since it opened in August 2025.
