Kazakhstan’s SCAT Airlines has placed a firm order for five additional Boeing 737-9 aircraft and converted five previously ordered 737-8 jets to the larger variant, expanding its planned 737 MAX 9 fleet as it develops longer-range international routes. The new order had previously been listed as unidentified on Boeing’s orders and deliveries tracker. Together with the conversions, the agreement shifts ten aircraft in SCAT’s backlog to the 737-9 configuration. “This fleet update allows SCAT Airlines to better meet growing passenger demand while maintaining the flexibility to serve a diverse and expanding route network,” Vladimir Denissov, President of JSC SCAT Airlines,…

Turkish Airlines is suspending flights to 18 international destinations from May 2026 in what appears to be its largest network adjustment in a long time, several media outlets reported.  The Turkish flag carrier is known in the industry for the regular addition of new destinations to what is already the largest and most comprehensive international network in the world. During a press conference attended by AeroTime in October 2025, the airline’s then Chairman Prof. Ahmet Bolat boasted that when Turkish Airlines launches a new route, it very rarely discontinues it.  This time rising fuel prices and geopolitical tensions appear to…

Rolls-Royce and easyJet have completed ground testing of a modified Pearl 15 engine running on 100% hydrogen at full takeoff power, marking a significant step in the companies’ effort to advance hydrogen as a potential future aviation fuel. The test took place at NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Rolls-Royce and easyJet said the engine ran on hydrogen across a simulated flight cycle, including start-up, takeoff, cruise and landing. The companies described the test as an industry first and said it showed that a modern jet engine can run safely on gaseous hydrogen under simulated real-world conditions.…

In recent times, I’ve written about air marshals on Royal Jordanian, and about security officers on EgyptAir, whereby virtually all flights have these people onboard. Here in the United States we have air marshals, and in this post, I’d like to talk about the current state of the program, as I understand it. I figure this makes for a fun topic for those of us who are aviation geeks, though let me acknowledge that a lot of the information about the program is confidential, so much of this is just speculation. What are federal air marshals, and what do they…
