Yesterday was an incredibly sad day for aviation in the United States, with Spirit Airlines ceasing operations. While the outcome was inevitable, that doesn’t make it any easier for the thousands of employees at the company who are now finding themselves without jobs. No matter how competitive airlines are with one another, the entire industry comes together in difficult times, and here’s the prime example of that… Retiring Spirit captain gets water cannon salute, party There’s no point in paraphrasing here, so let me just share the story that Southwest Airlines published on its Facebook page yesterday: Today was supposed…
It goes without saying that the whole world of “travel influencing” has changed a lot over the years. I mean, I’ve been doing this the old fashioned way for 20 years, and I’m annoyed I’m having to compete with others to document mediocre airport lounge food spreads. 😉 Along those lines, there’s a thread on Reddit that’s getting quite a bit of attention, with some “passionate” takes. “Sitting next to a baby would’ve been better” In the United Airlines section of Reddit, a passenger shared a frustrating experience they had on a recent United inaugural flight, featuring the carrier’s all-new…
When you’re driving on the highway, you don’t generally expect that you’re at risk of being hit by a commercial aircraft. Yet that’s exactly what happened today… United 767 causes damage on New Jersey Turnpike This incident happened today (Sunday, May 3, 2026), and involves United Airlines flight UA169, operating from Venice (VCE) to Newark (EWR). At around 1:50PM local time, after a roughly 8hr30min flight, the aircraft was on short final to…
In March 2022, a China Eastern Boeing 737 operating a domestic flight in China crashed shortly before starting its descent, killing all 132 people onboard. This was an unfathomable accident, as the plane suddenly entered a nosedive, even though investigators agreed that nothing was found to be wrong with the aircraft. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has been leading the investigation, and unfortunately hasn’t been terribly transparent about the cause of what happened. Just last year, the CAAC announced it would withhold a report on the accident, saying “disclosure may endanger national security and social stability.” So authorities…
“Operators need logistics solutions that can keep pace with rapidly changing mission demands without increasing complexity. By combining MATRIX’s advanced autonomous capability with the rugged, flight-proven R66 airframe, the R66 TURBINETRUCK delivers that capability whenever and wherever it’s needed—no matter the environment.” Source: Paul Fermo, President of Robinson Unmanned, commenting as the United States Marine Corps is tapping a Robinson and Sikorsky collaboration for its autonomous resupply project, awarding a $15.5 million contract to the modified R-66 TURBINETRUCK that’s built for payload instead of passengers and software instead of pilots.

Pilot Was Conducting An Agricultural Flight In The Turbo-Propeller Equipped Airplane When The Engine Lost Partial Power Analysis: The pilot was conducting an agricultural flight in the turbo-propeller equipped airplane when the engine lost partial power. The pilot was unable to maintain altitude and performed a forced landing in a nearby crawfish pond. The airplane came to rest inverted in the pond. The fuselage, upper wings, and empennage were substantially damaged during the forced landing. A postaccident engine examination revealed no evidence of preimpact engine failure that would have precluded normal operation. There were multiple indications that the engine was…
