The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) briefly halted all JetBlue departures early on March 10, 2026, after the airline requested a nationwide ground stop, in what appears to have been a short-lived disruption tied to an internal system outage. According to the FAA, the ground stop applied to JetBlue flights bound for all destinations. The restriction was later lifted within roughly 40 minutes to less than an hour, allowing the airline to resume normal operations soon after. JetBlue said the issue had been resolved, describing it as a “brief system outage,” though the carrier did not publicly specify which system was…
The Pentagon and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plan to conduct tests in New Mexico of a high-energy laser designed to counter drones, as US officials work to establish safety limits for a system that has already triggered airspace disruptions in Texas. The testing, scheduled for White Sands Missile Range, is aimed at determining if the US military can use directed-energy counter-drone technology without creating unacceptable risk for civil aviation. The Pentagon said the event will examine the laser’s effects on aircraft materials, validate automated safety shut-off systems, and help with aircrew eye-safety analysis. The urgency comes from two recent Texas incidents that exposed coordination problems among federal agencies. On February 25, 2026, the US military mistakenly shot down…
Obstacle Departure Procedure (ODP) A preplanned instrument flight rule (IFR) departure procedure printed for pilot use in textual or graphic form to provide obstruction clearance via the least onerous route from the terminal area to the appropriate en route structure. ODPs are recommended for obstruction clearance and may be flown without ATC clearance unless an alternate departure procedure (SID or radar vector) has been specifically assigned by ATC.
A Leadership Controversy Exposes A Deeper Reality: Many Aviation Institutions Are Drifting Away From The Pilots They Were Created To Represent. "Cancelling this event was an incredibly tough call. Our air show is one of the most meaningful ways we connect with our community. While we are disappointed, the safety and security of our sailors, their families, and our guests must remain our top priority. Our team has worked hard alongside performers, partners, and volunteers to plan a safe and memorable show. However, in light of heightened security considerations, cancellation is necessary to ensure the safety of our personnel, performers, and the public." Source: Capt. Shawn O’Connor, NAS Lemoore commanding officer, explaining the cancellation of two much awaited airshows… Both the…

Qatar Airways said it has started operating a limited schedule of flights to and from Doha that will continue over the next several days, widening a cautious restart of service while Qatari airspace remains closed to normal commercial operations due to the war in Iran. The airline said on March 9, 2026, the flights are possible only because the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority has approved limited operating corridors, and stressed that the schedule does not signal a full resumption of regular service. The update marks a significant shift from the airline’s earlier contingency plan, which relied on relief flights from neighboring countries such as Oman and Saudi Arabia to move…

For the next portion of my Iceland to The Residence via Cambodia trip, it was time for what was perhaps the most anticipated flight of the journey, as I was flying Etihad’s A380 The Residence from Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Paris (CDG). For those not familiar, The Residence is Etihad’s product above first class, consisting of a three-room suite on the A380, which can accommodate up to two people. For what it’s worth, upgrading from first class to The Residence on this flight cost around $1,600.The Residence experience starts before you even board the flight, and consists of what can only…
