Contrary to common belief, not all screws have the same design. You can find them in different types, such as Type A and Type AB. The Royal Air Force (RAF) conducted a long-range parachute drop over the island of Tristan da Cunha, an isolated British Overseas Territory in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean.  On May 9, 2026, a RAF A400M aircraft dropped six paratroopers and two military medics from the 16 Air Assault Brigade of the Parachute Regiment, on this remote British outpost in order to provide medical assistance to a suspected Hantavirus patient.  Since Tristan da Cunha doesn’t have an airport (this rugged volcanic island has almost no flat terrain), the parachute drop was the fastest way to deliver the required medical…

“The aviation security work to eliminate current flight deck vulnerability has been needlessly prolonged for way too long. We must not continue to delay this work and allow more time for another catastrophic incident to happen before the FAA and airlines act.” Source: Captain Steve Jangelis, Aviation Safety Chair of the Air Line Pilots Association, commenting on the FAA’s much-anticipated secondary cockpit barrier rule and why it is running into the same problem again: manufacturers aren’t ready, and airlines are asking for more time. This time, it’s JetBlue Airways formally requesting a one-year extension, pushing the deadline from July 31,…

Secondary Radar/Radar Beacon (ATCRBS) A radar system in which the object to be detected is fitted with cooperative equipment in the form of a radio receiver/transmitter (transponder). Radar pulses transmitted from the searching transmitter/receiver (interrogator) site are received in the cooperative equipment and used to trigger a distinctive transmission from the transponder. This reply transmission, rather than a reflected signal, is then received back at the transmitter/receiver site for processing and display at an air traffic control facility.
