First conceived by the legendary Claude Dornier, the original Dornier 328 entered service in 1993. Even three decades later, approximately 150 of these aircraft remain in service globally. Today, under the leadership of Chief Engineer Thomas Ahn, himself once part of the original 328 team, Deutsche Aircraft is reclaiming that legacy with a bold vision to blend heritage, innovation, and efficiency into a new regional workhorse. ICAO Code D328 Crew 2 Passengers 30–33 Engine Count 2 Engine Name PW119B turboprop Engine Class Turboprop Engine Power 1,800 shp (1,342 kW) each Built in Oberpfaffenhofen, just outside Munich, the D‑328eco is being…

HiSky will begin flying from Bucharest to Chicago O’Hare next year. It will be the first time since TAROM pulled out in 1995 that the city pair has had nonstop service. It is bound to make my Weekly Routes article (see the most recent edition). At 4,533 nautical miles (8,395 km) each way, Bucharest will be O’Hare’s third-longest European service next year. Only Istanbul (which is on the European side of the Bosphorus) and Athens will cover more distance. In contrast, Belgrade-Chicago (which Air Serbia relaunched in 2023) and Chicago-Naples (which American started in 2025) will cover marginally less distance.…
As requested by some of our viewers, we’ll be taking a closer look at the fleet of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for today’s video. The carrier is one of the two large members of the Air France-KLM Group along with Air France. Transavia is also in this group but makes up a much smaller proportion of operations. A fair bit has changed since our last examination of the KLM fleet and it looks like more changes are on the horizon. So, let’s take a look at the collection of aircraft operated by the Dutch carrier. source
Airbus is one of the leading manufacturers, and over the years, it has built some of the most successful commercial aircraft in the world that form the backbone of many airline fleets today. For decades, the company has competed head-to-head with Boeing in the passenger aircraft market, but cargo tells a different story. The US manufacturers’ freighters, especially the 747 and 777, dominate the sector. That said, Airbus tried to address this with models such as the A300, A310, and later the A330-200F, but none shifted the balance. Today, its freighters account for less than 10% of the dedicated global…
Delta Air Lines has confirmed that it will fly from New York JFK to Malta and Olbia (Sardinia, Italy). Big incentives and other risk-sharing mechanisms will underpin them, and they follow the trend for Southern European travel. This announcement came after the carrier’s disclosure earlier this year that its employees and SkyMiles members would help choose the next destination. Of course, it is unknown what weight was given to their part of the decision. Both routes will use the Boeing 767-300ER, which has been freed up by the airline’s decision to end London Gatwick flights and cease JFK-Brussels service. It…
{title} By {author} — via {source} {content} Source: {source} — Original Article — Captain’s Brief auto-importA Spirit Airlines Airbus A321 was told to turn away from Air Force One over Long Island yesterday while operating a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Boston. The yellow-clad narrowbody is said to have come within 11 miles of the Boeing VC-25A, a modified 747-200, that was carrying Donald Trump to the UK. The A321’s proximity to the quadjet prompted air traffic control to instruct it to turn to the right, with increasing urgency. While the two aircraft did ultimately retain a safe distance from…
From 2017 (YouTube Edition): ADS-B For Airplanes And Drones… ADS-B technology developed by uAvionix has come full circle. The company began with a device developed for manned aircraft, scaled that down for the drone market, and now has scaled back up with a new device for manned aircraft with the Echo UAT system. Ryan Reed, director of Communications and Support for uAvionx, told ANN news editor Tom Patton at Sun ‘n Fun in April that the early devices were heavy and used a lot of power, which is not ideal for small UAVs. So they made the devices smaller, lighter…
Dead Reckoning Dead reckoning, as applied to flying, is the navigation of an airplane solely by means of computations based on airspeed, course, heading, wind direction, and speed, groundspeed, and elapsed time.
“The next great technological revolution in aviation is here. The United States will lead the way, and doing so will cement America’s status as a global leader in transportation innovation. That means more high-paying manufacturing jobs and economic opportunity. By safely testing the deployment of these futuristic air taxis and other AAM vehicles, we can fundamentally improve how the traveling public and products move.” Source: U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy announced a new pilot program in the FAA that aims to accelerate the deployment of AAM, or advanced air mobility vehicles. The new technologies are full of potential…
