We’re currently seeing a bit of an inflight Wi-Fi revolution, with an increasing number of airlines signing up for Starlink, bringing fast and free connectivity to the skies. I might not be a huge fan of Elon Musk (to put it politely), but I can respect that Starlink is currently the best such offering, and having truly high speed inflight connectivity is a game changer. Along those lines, one airline recently made a surprising announcement, and we now have some more insights into why… Why Delta chose Amazon Leo over Starlink for inflight Wi-Fi Several weeks ago, Delta announced plans…

U.S. special operations leaders expressed frustration Tuesday about manufacturers’ proprietary agreements that block them from making quick upgrades to military equipment. The problem is especially acute for unmanned systems, they said, as technology is evolving far faster than the ability of U.S. Special Operations Command to modify its drones.“The biggest challenge that that we face, at least within the majority of our formations, is the inability of the operator at the edge to have the authority to tinker,” Lt. Gen. Lawrence Ferguson, chief of U.S. Army Special Operations Command, told the Senate Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities on Tuesday.“Specifically, I’m…

On the second day of DAIMEX in the muddy testing range of Pabradė, Lithuania, amid the expected lineup of tactical UAVs and counter-drone systems, a much boxier silhouette appeared on De Havilland Canada’s defense literature. The Short C-23 Sherpa, a Cold War-era tactical transport once operated by the US military, is being reintroduced to potential customers. The Canadian manufacturer that now holds the type certificate is openly testing whether there is still a market for it. From heritage display to market sounding De Havilland Canada says the type certificates for the Short Skyvan, Short 330, Short 360, and C-23 Sherpa family joined its portfolio in 2019.…
Korean Air will emerge as South Korea’s integrated flag carrier on December 17, 2026, marking the end of a consolidation process that has stretched over five years. The boards of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines approved the merger agreement on May 13, 2026 with the formal contract execution scheduled for May 14, 2026. Once complete, Korean Air will absorb all of Asiana Airlines’ assets, liabilities, rights, obligations, and personnel. The merger traces back to November 2020, when Hanjin Group first approved the acquisition of Asiana Airlines. At the time, the South Korean government and state-led creditors had provided KRW 3.6…
There’s nothing to see here, folks, just Boeing possibly giving a million bucks to someone encouraging people to drive around the country, who also happens to be the regulator overseeing the certification of new aircraft. The economics & pitch deck of Sean Duffy’s road tripSeveral days ago, I covered how United States Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy launched the “Great American Road Trip” series, whereby he and his family went on a road trip over the course of parts of seven months. This is intended to be in celebration of the United States’ 250th birthday, and the concept behind this was “to…
Boeing still leads Airbus for aircraft deliveries in 2026, but its lead has narrowed after the European manufacturer outpaced its US rival last month. On May 12, 2026, Boeing updated its orders and deliveries data which also revealed a surprising number of aircraft purchases from as yet unidentified customers. These included one anonymous buyer ordering 28 Boeing 777X widebodies while a second purchased 52 737 MAX jets. There was also an order for 25 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and another for four 787-9s, again all from unidentified customers. There is speculation that the orders could be linked to US President Donald…
