Regional low-cost carrier Volotea has completed its latest capital increase round.  The airline announced in September 2024 that it was planning to raise up to €100 million in additional capital through convertible notes in order to fuel its ongoing European expansion.  The final amount raised, however, has been capped at €71 million. According to the airline, funds from its own operations have sufficed to cover its remaining financing needs.  The bulk of this capital, €56 million, had already been committed by October 2025, with the additional €15 million in funding having been secured in the first quarter of 2026.  Aegean…

There are lots of opinions when it comes to appropriate airplane etiquette, ranging from seat recline, to dressing up, to changing seats with others, and more. In this post, I’d like to address the topic of etiquette around opening and closing airplane window shades. Who controls airplane window shades, and what’s reasonable? Also, what happens when crews try to take control of window shades on longer flights? A first-person point-of-view video shows the crew member in the rear seat of a Ukrainian Yak-52 shooting with a rifle at a Russian Geran drone, which later detonates in a powerful explosion. A video that emerged on Mar. 24, 2026, shows a Russian Geran-type One-Way Attack (OWA) drone exploding mid-air after being engaged by an automatic weapon fired from the rear seat of a Ukrainian Yak-52 trainer. Kenya Airways returned to financial losses in 2025, the airline reported on March 24, 2026.  The Kenyan flag carrier, which posted a pre-tax loss of Ks 17.93 billion (US$138.3 million approximately), attributed this outcome to the continued grounding of a third of its long-haul fleet. This circumstance has resulted in an 18% drop in available capacity in terms of Available Seat Kilometers (ASKs), as well as 13% fewer passengers and 14% less revenue in 2025. Cargo volume, an important contributor to the airline’s coffers, also fell by 8%.  At the root of this problem is the increased lead times to…

The Pentagon is considering whether to redirect air defense interceptor missiles originally earmarked for Ukraine to the Middle East, where Operation Epic Fury has consumed critical munitions at a pace that is straining US stockpiles, the Washington Post reported on March 26, 2026, citing three people familiar with the matter. The weapons under review include interceptors procured through NATO’s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), the initiative launched in July 2025 under which European nations pool funds to purchase US-made arms for Kyiv. The diversion could amount to roughly $750 million worth of ally-funded missiles redirected to replenish US inventory. A…

On Sunday night, we saw a tragic accident at LaGuardia (LGA), whereby an Air Canada Jazz CRJ-900 and a fire truck collided on the runway, leading to the death of the two pilots, plus several injuries. This is beyond tragic, and obviously the primary focus should be on those who suffered because of this. However, it’s also interesting to note what’s becoming a very big story in Canada, with many calling on Air Canada’s CEO to resign, accusing him of being disrespectful. Air Canada CEO only records video in English, not French On Monday, Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau recorded…
