American Airlines is trying to improve its passenger experience, and become more competitive with Delta and United. That’s great, and I’m rooting for them. While big product investments are nice, often it’s focusing on the basic things that makes the biggest difference. I want to give an example of some unnecessary and totally avoidable friction to the passenger experience, which I witnessed on a flight from Tampa (TPA) to Miami (MIA) a couple of days ago (admittedly it’s not the most memorable thing from the past couple of days, but this is a travel blog)… Flight boarding all groups at…

Russia’s flag carrier, Aeroflot, is rumoured to be dismantling multiple Boeing aircraft for parts to keep the rest of its passenger fleet flying, as the Russian aviation industry continues to cannibalize aircraft following global sanctions. As reported by AeroTime, the Russian carrier will dismantle eight Boeing aircraft, which are expected to be transferred from Volga-Dnepr, in a contract that is valued at around ten billion Russian Rubles ($130 million). Six Boeing 737-800BCF from ATRAN, and two Boeing 747-400 from Air Bridge Cargo, both subsidiaries of the air charter, all cargo service provider Volga-Dnepr Airlines, will be transferred into the Aeroflot…

Why Ocean, Why Now Freight forwarders have had air quotes at their fingertips for years. But ocean? That’s been another story. Think spreadsheets, siloed systems, and hours wasted stitching together rates, surcharges, and trucking into something that resembles a door-to-door quote. The result? Quotes that crawl, deals that slip, and a customer experience that belongs in dial-up, not digital. And the timing couldn’t be more critical. A recent Freightos/Clearit survey of 390+ small importers found 72% are already seeing tariff-driven cost spikes, and nearly half have cut shipments. For SMBs in that squeeze, waiting days for an ocean quote isn’t…

While of absolutely no consequence, I’m curious if anyone can make sense of this… The X Hotel Oslo sure looks like a Moxy to me!I’m considering a trip to Oslo (long story, but Icelandair has good fares out of there, and I’ve been wanting to review the airline again), and I was looking at hotel options.I visited Marriott’s site, and saw the one option in the brand’s portfolio is the X Hotel. The small image next to the hotel’s name sure looked to me like the typical room you’d expect at a Moxy, which is one of Marriott’s limited service…

The technologies that are being worked on in quiet aerodynamics,…
