Advanced air mobility developer Archer Aviation has signed a deal with the Serbian government to become the official air mobility provider for EXPO 2027, an international specialized exhibition which will be held in Belgrade.
The terms of the agreement, which was signed by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and Archer Founder and CEO Adam Goldstein during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, envisage a broad-ranging partnership between the Serbian state and the Californian eVTOL company.
Archer’s Midnight eVTOL will be showcased at Expo 2027 and the Serbian government will have the option to purchase up to 25 units of this type of aircraft.
Although the agreement refers to Archer as the Expo’s preferred air taxi partner, the extent of Archer’s operations during the event is still unclear, and it is not yet known if eVTOL services will be offered.
The Expo 2025 Osaka provides a recent precedent of collaboration between the eVTOL industry and a major international exhibition. On that occasion, a dedicated Advanced Air Mobility Pavilion provided an overview of several eVTOL platforms. However, and despite initial expectations of a regular air taxi service, the flight program was limited to a handful of demonstration flights conducted by Joby Aviation and Japanese eVTOL developers HEXA and SkyDrive.
In addition to the flight operations, Archer is also interested in Serbia as a potential supplier of materials for its supply chain. In this regard, the US firm mentioned that it is in talks with the Serbian government and is exploring opportunities to collaborate in the sourcing of rare earth magnets and critical minerals to be used in batteries.
Serbian interest in Archer is not new. In January 2025, Serbian aviation news outlet Tango Six reported that the Balkan country had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the World Economic Forum (WEF), to acquire at least three Midnight aircraft.
