Alaska Airlines has announced it is placing a record order with Boeing for 105 additional 737 MAX 10 aircraft, which will bring its total order book for this model to 174 units, and five B787 widebody airliners for an undisclosed amount.
The former will expand the airline’s fleet as well as replace some of the 248 Boeing aircraft it currently operates, while the latter will be used to strengthen its recently launched long-haul operations to Europe and Asia.
The last couple of years have seen Alaska Airlines undergo massive corporate changes, first with the acquisition and integration of Hawaiian Airlines in 2023, then with the announcement, in 2025, of the launch of a dozen long-haul routes out of its hub at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
This deal coincides with the 60th anniversary of Alaska Airlines’ first Boeing aircraft order , a detail highlighted by both companies when when announcing the deal.
No additional details have been provided about the expected delivery calendar for the new aircraft or the cabin layout.
