Airbus has announced that it delivered 81 commercial aircraft in May 2025, marking a significant increase that, if sustained, could put the planemaker on course to meet its annual target of “around 870” deliveries.
For much of this year so far, Airbus has looked like it would struggle to reach its 2026 delivery figures, as set out by the company’s CEO Guillaume Faury earlier this year.
Before May’s results were published on June 5, 2026, Airbus’ best month so far was in April 2026, when it delivered 67 aircraft.
Last month, AeroTime calculated that Airbus would need to deliver around 86 commercial aircraft during each of the final months of the year to reach the 870 goal.
Airbus has delivered a total of 262 aircraft this year, 608 short of achieving its ambitions for the year.
SMBC Aviation, Delta Air Lines and IndiGo were the recipients of the largest numbers of Airbus aircraft during May 2026.
Airbus also added 379 gross aircraft orders to its books last month, including an order from AirAsia for 150 A220-300s.
China Eastern Airways purchased a further 102 aircraft, comprising 23 A320neos and 79 A321neos.
With these two major orders, Airbus surpassed a significant milestone, reaching over 1,000 orders for the A220 and more than 20,000 orders for the A320 family to date.
In addition, Airbus logged an order for 20 A320neos and 50 A321neos from an as-yet-undisclosed customer.
