Air France suspends Paris-Manila May-October flights, shifts to seasonal service

Air France will pause its direct flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) from May to October 2026. The suspension comes just over a year after the airline resumed the route following a two-decade absence from the Philippines.

The Paris-Manila service will be suspended from May 4 to October 12, 2026, coinciding with the European summer season, according to international airline tracker AeroRoutes, which cited a recent Air France schedule update. The move effectively converts the route into a seasonal service.

Air France currently operates the route three times per week with an average flight time of approximately 14 hours. According to the schedule, flight AF224 from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport to Manila will continue operating on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays until May 2026. The return flight AF223 from Manila to Paris operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

The decision is notable, given Air France’s recent return to the Philippine market. The airline launched its inaugural nonstop flight to Manila International Airport on December 8, 2024, marking its first direct service to the country since 2004. The route was the first direct air link between Europe and the Philippines to resume after the COVID-19 pandemic severely disrupted international travel.

Air France had announced the three-times-weekly service in September 2024. The route is operated with an Airbus A350-900 aircraft configured with 34 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 266 economy seats.

The Paris-Manila route ceased in 2004 following the merger of Air France and KLM. After the merger, Air France maintained its presence in the Philippines through a codeshare agreement with KLM, which continued operating flights to Manila.
